6210 GPS

Hi.. I'm looking at getting the 6210 and just wondered if someone could tell me if the GPS will still work after the month Sat Nav trial is over (I'm looking at getting the phone on pre-pay (pay as you go)).

I'm not worried about having sat nav, basically all I need is to be able to see where I am on a map. So after the six month trial will I still be able to do this (my location on a map), but have no sat nav, or will the GPS stop working full stop.

Any advice would be appreciated.

thanks

Hi

After the trial period, Nokia Maps will still show you your location but it will stop giving you directions to your destination.

The phones GPS feature is totally independent from any applications that require you to pay.  When the nokia maps license expires it will still function as an "interactive map book" which allows you to search and show your position.

You are free to use it with any GPS compatible application of your choice.

GPS itself is totally free to use.  One thing that you may want to use is the phones assisted GPS features (AGPS).  This enables you to get signal locks much quicker but it uses small amounts of data which you may be charged for depending on your tariff (contact your network for data prices). AGPS is enabled by default but can be disabled if you do not want to pay anything at all.
