Re: 6120c heating problem

When you say wired headsets you mean earphones? (sorry it's must be a gap in our cultures...)

Guessing you didnt hear that earphones increase radiation...

Thanks for the link. I really didn't know wired earphones/headsets/handsfree/in-ear headphones don't do any good :smileysad: How about... use a stero one but only use one side, logically the 2 earpieces will split the radiations :smileyhappy:
May be it's best to use speaker phone when possible.

Oh look more "Radiation" hype.

Been using headphones for years on phones. Not affected/fryed my brain yet. So what are you worried about.

You try cooking something in a microwave set at 1800mhz or 900mhz at 800watts. It won't cook sod all. 2.4ghz on the otherhand it will, and does it good.

The power output of phones isn't enough to do any form of damage.

Edit: That wireguard is false and a scam, its just a filter like any other electrical filter.

Re: 6120c heating problem

1) That specific link was the first I've noticed and I have'nt read it through so I'm sorry if I directed you to a marketing site, but they didnt "invent" the hype they just ride along with it... by the way Nokia released radiation safe headsets too...

2( You know that one man is not a representative specimen and these types of tests should be conducted over a very long period of time...

3) Another "hype" is that when talking through the speaker in your car the entire car turns into a so-called antenna... cool...

Re: 6120c heating problem

My 6120c gets quite hot too, and now I've developed lumps around my ear and jaw area. Has anyone else had this?

Re: 6120c heating problem

I'd be interested to see what Nokia have to say about this model. My 6120c gets painfully hot after a couple of minutes and I have to hold it away from my ear. I've also developed lumps around my ear and jaw and I'm worried there might be a link. ARE YOU LISTENING NOKIA???!!!

Re: 6120c heating problem

I was really fond of my Nokia 6120c. It was one of few phones that worked in distant places during my visit to Australia (UMTS on 850 MHz). I even wrote some Python programs for it.

Yes, also my phone is getting hot and now I am afraid using it. So I switched back to my old 6600. I am using 6120 only as a GPS (together with Holux M1000 bluetooth GPS).

I hope this problem clears up soon. It's not so good for Nokia ...

Re: 6120c heating problem

I would advise you to take your Nokia devices to a nearest authorized Nokia Care service centre for inspection.

You can find all service centres globally from
http://www.nokia.com/repair

Hazeld, I think you should also see a doctor about those lumps. Let us know what it was all about.

Dear Vandelay,

I don't know whether you are a technical person or just a forum moderator. And I don't know whether heating is bad for health or not. But you cannot just send people to the repair centre.

I think heating is an issue and if Nokia can produce so many faulty phones than they have another problem.

It's true it does not heat so much if you dont use UMTS. But I bought it for that feature ...

Re: 6120c heating problem

We took the phone to "nearest authorized Nokia Care service centre for inspection" and they took our cell to the "LAB" and they replaced "PARTS" and the technician checked the cell phone with his "gauge" and the gauge showed that the heat levels are fine.

My phone still heats up.
The same as before.
The same as other phones from the series.

I don't believe that they tried to fix my phone,
because they know it wont do any help.

I have the same problem: 6120 is heating very fast and after a call I become dizzy.

Is there any solving method?

Re: 6120c heating problem

I have just dropped my 6120c to Telstra for repair. On top of my list of five issues I have with the phone is this overheating one.

I emailed Nokia as well last week and got the stock standard response that the phone was designed to meet relevant standards. This response doesn't fill me with hope.

Looking at the replies in this forum and comments on other sites it seems to be a very common problem.

I am going to hold back on further comments until the warranty process has run its course.

All I will say for now is as per previously posted comments the phone gets too hot to use. As this phone is the main point of communication for my business it is very dissappointing and annoying.

Re: 6120c heating problem

How amazing that this thread started back in September 2007 and people are STILL reporting the same problems!

This is NOT the only website where people are complaining about the Nokia 6120 classic phone. Go to whirlpool.net.au and keep reading.

My phone is off for repair because it over-heats and goes into such a deep sleep mode that I cannot even turn the stupid thing off!

My phone faceplate has started to even blister!

Nokia, why do you NOT listen? There is a real problem with this phone... the Nokia 6120 classic.

Caveat emptor..... buyer beware!

Phone repaired.......

Still over heats and still goes into deep sleep mode.

The blistering is now breaking and the film covering the screen is peeling off.

This is fact so do not delete my post!

Read this story in The Australian newspaper today.....

My phone has now been repaired twice [last week], still over heats and still goes into deep sleep mode.

Time for a new replacement phone Nokia... I am Gayle Wilson in the article above!

Re: 6120c heating problem

As I have had no satisfaction getting my phone replaced after two repairs and countless efforts communicating with 3 [the place of purchase], I have now made a written complaint to the telecommunications ombudsman. http://www.tio.com.au .

I Love This Phone. Mine is a lemon. My daughter has the exact same phone and it works perfectly!

Ideaswoman, your daughter's phone doesn't heat up? was it purchased at the same place at the same time as yours? It would be useful if you can show a pic of your bubbling phone.

I THINK Nokia R&D has noticed this problem finally and SHOULD have some improvements in FUTURE products. (dont ask me any details pls, that's all I can say >_^).
