No.

If your workplace doesn't allow cameraphones then what assurance would they have that your camera is deactivated anyway if it were possible?

Your only option is to find a phone that doesn't have a camera in the first place.

Re: 5800XM stop camera

I understand your position and it's understandable that the Israeli army (or any army for that matter) doesn't want people taking photos. However, cameraphones are not designed to have the camera switched off.

All you can do is visit a Nokia Care Point and ask if they can remove the camera for you.

Re: 5800XM stop camera

Sorry, there's no software for the 5800 currently that does what you're asking (occupy the camera, thereby effectively disabling it while the software is running).

Nobody on this forum is allowed to give advice on how to "break" your camera, because that would void your warranty.

You will have to get inventive on your own here. :smileyhappy:

Good luck,

Ravi

Re: 5800XM stop camera

Please understand that you are asking about getting the phone to things that it wasn't designed to do. The camera is designed to work, it isn't designed not to work.

Short of damaging the camera yourself (and thus voiding the warranty on your phone and potentially damaging more than you intended), only a Nokia Care Point can help you further with this issue.

You must admit that your personal situation is not that of the average phone user...

Re: 5800XM stop camera

I was going to suggest the same thing last night but looking at the fact that you're going to be on active duty 21 days out of 23 for the next 3 years, it hardly seems worth keeping the 5800 at all.

You should probably sell it off and buy a basic non-camera phone like this while you're still in the army: http://www.nokia.co.il/find-products/all-phones/nokia-1650
