Hi
All of a sudden my 5800 will not recognise its memory card which has made it ridiculously slow. I have taken the card out and reinserted lots of times but it doesnt make any difference I tried to format but when i go into the necessary screen, it says memory card not inserted. does anyone know how i can rectify this? Its very frustrating!
Many thanks

did you try the card in another nokia phone to make sure that it is not corrupted? sometimes a corrupted card can send out such message. also perhaps its time to give your phone some tlc try this make sure you do a back up and have all the info from the phone stored in nokia pc suite or ovi suite . by doing this you will lose all the data so make sure you have all the product keys for all the apps you have purhcased/games and such.
1. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data)
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service.
use code number two. also think of any new apps that may have slowed down your device, numerous processes running at the same time. clean the browser cache etc. if that does not work only then try reformat use code number two and the default code is 12345

Thanks, it still isn't working, im about ready to throw the phone out of the window! Unfortunately i dont know anyone who has a similar phone so cant try the memory card else where.
The phone is only 2 months old, surely I shouldnt be having major problems already!

I agree about the memory card as I have seen a 5800 (and other models) behave in exactly the same way.
The cause has always either been a faulty or corrupt memory card. If the card can be formatted (in either the phone or a computer) try that to see if it helps. The card could have become corrupt if you have ever removed it without first selecting the remove memory card option.
If it doesn't help then you should not use that card in the phone, you will need to get a replacement. You will instantly see if the card was the cause by rebooting your phone without the card inserted.
Memory cards that are supplied with phones are covered by a six month warranty and you will need to visit a nokia care point to claim for it. If you do not live near a care point the cheapest option is to just buy a new memory card from a reputable retailer (not ebay).

Dear Freinds,
It's now about 3 years since I've bought the first nokia touch phone 5800 Xpress music, however nowadays I can't compare it to new touch phones but it has been working for me more than 3 years and that's enough.
I've kept this phone updated always using nokia software updater it includes an 8 Gb nokia microSD card from the first day.
Last week when I was speaking with my phone suddenly I heared a beep and phone turned off in that time it was low of charge.
So I charged it up after some hours I tried to turn it on but it stopped on nokia splash screen and restarted over and over, there was no way except removing memory out and phone started working without memory card.
After I re-inserted memory card the phone didn't recognise that.
I used nokia software updater again with memory card inserted(after turning the device on I just insert it in) after re-installing firmware which was version 60.000.03 suddenly it started to recognise memory again and now there's no problem.
You might try this soloution I hope it works and I guess there's something wrong with new nokia firmware as I never had such problems prior to upgading phone firmware.
Best Regards
