I had aproblem in my 5800 XM touch screen and Nokia Care replaced the touch screen. I noticed strange behavior: when I dial a number I cannot end the call or activate speaker using touch screen, I have first to slide the unlock key on the right side then I can access the touch buttons.
Same with incoming calls or alarm/reminders, I must first slide the key at the side to be able to swipe the STOP or Silent buttons.
Has anyone faced such a problem? I do not want to send it again to Nokia care till I'm sure its a hardware issue.
I hrd-reset the phone twice but the problem is still there.

Hi,
Menu-->Settings-->Phone-->Phone Managament-->Auto Keyguard
Set 'None' for overcoming your problem or set time as required...

Autolock is set to 30 seconds and the problem is instant. I even turned autolock off and the problem is still there.
Once I make a call I cannot access any touch buttons untill I slide the lock key (but the phone actually is not locked)

looks like it is a problem in the sensor. I need to go back to Nokia Care.

No it's not a problem with the sensor.
Actually Nokia missed the look after the behaviour of the lock/touch screen. i have the same Problem with my Nokia in mynth condition, without changing any part.

I have a similar problem.
Is this a hardware (Sensor) or firmware problem?
Did anyone get this fixed and if so, how?
My precise symptom is an inability to unlock the phone even after repeated tries. It occurs with alarms and trying to use the dialer for voice mail. The screen goes black too quickly for voice mail. The buttons don't respond when answering a call.
(No screen protector. Autoguard is off. Light time-out is max 60 seconds. Firmware: V50.2.005)
Thanks.

Was the problem solved after Nokia's expertise ?
I've got to unlock the phone using the side button and then i'm able to touch the screen to perform any action.

I have a similar problem: often, but not every time, it is impossible to use the touch screen whille ringing my voicemail, so I can't use the speaker, or the dialer to command the voicemail. I tried reinstallong the firmware (v51.0.006) but that didn't change anything. I didn't have this problem before upgrading from the previous firmware....very annoying. Another siliar issue µihave is not being able to answer calls: every so often, the touch screen just doesn't want to know....
