Is your phone´s firmware up to date?
Go to Menu --> Settings --> Phone --> Phone mgmt. --> Device update --> Options --> Check for updates
You´ll need a WiFi or any other full internet acsess point to make it work!
The advantage of this is that the "data preservation" won´t wipe your phone!
Let us know if it did! ![]()

The reset you did was a hard reset?
By pressing "Green", "Red" and "Camera" button at once during power up of the phone, you´ll perform a hard reset of the phone which will erase all the data.
If this doesn´t work, I´m afraid there´s nothing else I know... ![]()

I had the same problem a few weeks ago... I did some random things like remove the memory card then insert it again... restart the phone...remove the battery etc... I couldn't figure out how but somehow the problem got fixed...
Now again i have the same problem...the images and other stuff in the memory card is not shown in the gallery while it is showed in the file manager...I have tried the same stuff i did the last time but haven't have any luck yet... My phone's firmware is up to date...haven't yet tried the hard reset...but obviously it didn't help my friend above...
So, guys...need your help... :/ anyone form NOKIA out there???

@ "If you make a picture with the camera, does it appear in the Gallery?"
Yes i have tried this too...the file gets saved in the memory card but doesn't show in the gallery...only the files in the phone memory are shown...sometimes they are not shown as well....and when that happens you have to exit the gallery as the options tab gets non responsive as well...

I had the same problem and after looking here and not finding the solution I decided to reformat everything, including the phone and memory card (16GB SanDisk). I even connected the memory card to my PC and ran a disk check. I erased everything on the card, backed up my phone, reinstalled the card, restored, etc. etc.
So far it worked...

Open subdirectory 101ffc31 and rename or delete the content glxmdstn. This is the gallery thumbnails database.
Fabulous information! Were you on V1 firmware? With V2, the folder on my N97 is 10281e17 and the file is [102830AB]thumbnail_v2.db. The file you mentioned is not present.

Guys......
Follow the below procedure for this problem....Hope this will work :-
1. connect the phone with PC using Mass Storage Mode
2. go to Private > 101f8857 > Cache > E Drive
3. delete all the files
4. disconnect safely (imp...coz many ppl just remove the usb coed)
5. problem solved...
those clones will no longer be seen...all the images have been refreshed.
this happens due to the phone hanging when it runs out of RAM.
it used to happen a lot with my phone too...
