5800 XM: falls out -> want to reset without loosing data

My nokia shuts down without warning and for no reason...

(got the latest firmware ect ect)

 

Now, to solve this problem, i'd like to do a full reset BUT keep my messages + contact list...

I got around 4k messages that i want to save.

 

I don't want to backup my whole nokia because i want to get rid of most of the applications and settings... I want a clean start but with my messages... Last time i did a clean reset i lost all my messages.

 

What's the best way to do this?

First thought is that with this amount of messages you might expect issues, are you also backing up to memory card in device from Menu > Applications > File mgr. > Backup as you can selectively restore contacts & messages if you want?

If I've helped in any way, a click upon the white star at bottom right of screen would always be appreciated.

Make a backup of only the contacts and messages. You can select what data to backup on Ovi Suite. If you restore that backup, then none of the apps and settings would be retained.

made a backup of my messages + contacts + pictures

 

will now restore the phone

 

EDIT: **bleep** is this blockingscode???

 

I don't know what it is, it prevents me from resetting my phone

 

CODE 12345 doesn't work btw

 

EDIT 2: ok hard reset worked :smileyhappy: no need for a code
