Hi, just got the phone two days ago, and am really loving it. Some bugs as is expected of such a new product, but on the whole a really nice piece of kit especially for the price.
One problem though came up after I updated to the newest firmware, V 20.0.012, and now I can't use the mini-qwerty or the hand writing options in all programs, for example SMS. They appear in the list, and I can choose them, but they both just revert back to the full screen qwerty. I know most people don't even use the mini-qwerty for anything, but I happen to like it very much, it's especially good when using Palringo, since you can see if someone writes a message to you while you're still writing yourself. The weird thing is that it still works in some programs, for example Opera Mini and Palringo. For a moment it looked like it didn't work with any of Nokia's own apps, but I've confirmed it works at least in gallery.
Is this a common problem? Any easy fixes? I've tried searching around for it, but found very little.
Also for some reason after upgrading, my screen gets like a sort of colored "overlay" (grey in the buttons turns to green, blue, red or some other color) for a while. Doesn't really do anything other than annoy, but still.
For the next update it would be nice to have it change to full screen qwerty automatically when using the phone horizontally and to either numpad or mini-qwerty when using it vertically. Also there's no point in opening the full qwerty when inputting only numerical data, like in the clock etc. Just some thoughts.
Well, I think that's about all for today, hopefully someone can come up with a solution.

Okay, that's odd. You should at least have the mini-qwerty, full qwerty and handwriting option for SMS-ing. That's the whole point of having those features.
I have the same version and I can use all of those features, including the alphanumeric keypad.
Works for calendar stuff, web, clock, etc.
Seems like something went squiffy during your update. Try the standard troubleshooting steps below:
1. Reboot your phone: Switch the phone off. Take out the battery. Wait a few minutes. Put it back in and switch the phone on.
2. Restore original phone settings: It will be under phone settings or type *#7780# in your phone's standby mode. No data will be lost, but you will reset all your phone's settings back to the default.
3. Hard reset: AKA the 3 finger reset. Do a hard reset with the phone switched off and press the following buttons at the same time -- green "call" key, red "end call" key and camera button.).
NOTE: This will remove all personal content and data added after the original default state. So you might want to do a backup using Nokia PC Suite's Backup application and/or backup to your memory card before you do any of those step.
If all else fails, go to your Nokia Service Centre and have them reinstall the firmware for you.
