@devil,
Are you saying that you are not able to solve the problem after two resets or you mean that you got the problem twice even after previous resets. The latter is possible.
However, in my case i have connected my phone to computer two or three times after my last occurrence and did not face the issue, may be lucky. But this time, i did something different, i am not sure if it had anything to do with it or not. But you can try this.

When you eject the phone through windows USB port, what i had been doing so far was to right click and then select the "stop or eject the particular usb port that had the phone connected". All this time, i got the above problem.
Later, i do right click and then the select the generic "stop usb" which opens up another dialog, through which i stop the main usb port. Since then i haven't had the issue. But again, this may have nothing to do with it. But you can try.

And ofcz, Nokia should provide bug fix for this, but till then we have to try workarounds.

You have to be logged in using your Nokia account to be able to start a new thread.
Then you have to go to the relevant section and then you will see "Start new topic" button on the left side in blue color. You can create a new topic only when you go into one of the sections under the "Mobile Products" section.

Re: 5800 - Shortcuts bar does not show on Homescreen.

One more with this problem reporting in - I'm guessing it's "fairly" widespread, my friend has the exact same problem.

It's also "fairly" severe IMO: in effect most of the home screen is unusable, inluding the contacts and dial buttons AND the green 'last calls' hardware button. To place a call, one must dig trough the menus to find Contacts or Log (thank G the middle 'menu' button works - the others do not...) Smart phone, huh?

This all occured when I upgraded to 31.0.008.C02.01.

Also: I used Ovi Suite to upgrade, and it suggested a backup/restore which I allowed it to do (although I know the 5800 has not needed a restore with previous updates). The restore did not succeed, which makes me very reluctant to try a hard reset (hung for hours w/o doing any progress, the phone was fine when I finally cancelled the prosess, though).

I really, _really_ think this quite a major problem that should get a official fix asap! Please?

Best Regards,

Marc

Re: 5800 - Shortcuts bar does not show on Homescreen.

[ Edited ]

I had the same problem. But i just found a way to change the homescreen for my 5800. this is may not as same as the shortcut homescreen but it provides the same feature.

……………..Integrating ORANGE TORNADO home screen on your 5800xm .............
1.First make a backup copy of your c:\sys\install\sisregistry\1028315f FOLDER.
2.Just copy "resource" and "sys" folder from my attachment to your C drive
3.Restart now go to Home screen settings you will get that Orange Home Screen…. thats all

NOW What do you people think Huh!!! Will you wait for Nokia for update or go with yourself…

This is link to download fle "resource" and "sys": http://www.mediafire.com/?zz1jfmgmwjw
I HOPE THIS MAY HELP. GOOD LUCK!

Re: 5800 - Shortcuts bar does not show on Homescreen.

i just found an other way to reset homescreen. it worked on my 5800 and you don't need to install anything :smileyhappy:

 1. Go to c:\private\10202BE9\persists\ folder and delete file delete 10275102.cre.
2. Restart your phone.
3. After restarting just change your home screen settings to Basic or Contacts Bar settings then back to Shortcuts bar setting.

Home screen shortcut buttons are back and the home screen is again functioning.

Re: 5800 - Shortcuts bar does not show on Homescreen.

I'm seeing the same issue - it started today for no apparent reason so any advice would be appreciated! As woodyxxl said, the only way you can get to that private place from what I've seen is hacking the phone. Is there a supported way of doing this!?

Re: 5800 - Shortcuts bar does not show on Homescreen.

You say

1. Go to c:\private\10202BE9\persists\ folder and delete file delete 10275102.cre.

But how and where do i do that?

Re: 5800 - Shortcuts bar does not show on Homescreen.

Use X-plore to do that

Or you can install this sis fyle to have Orange Homescreen :smileyhappy:

Re: 5800 - Shortcuts bar does not show on Homescreen.

Yup....me too

This is very inconvenient to me.

Looks like the only solution is to hard reset the phone and install all APPS again....

will take some time...=(

Re: 5800 - Shortcuts bar does not show on Homescreen.

The easiest way to have Orange homescreen is to install this "sis" fyle

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ydykxejmyv

Restart your phone

Then you go to Settings>Personal>>Homescreen>Homescreen theme>Orange

There you go!
