Hello all,

i bought a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic 3 days ago. But when i arrived at home, i realised, that the screen has a bug. It mostly happens, when i "unlock the keys"; many lines appear on the screen and nothing is readable. The screen changes to normal, if i try locking and unlocking the keys several times or if i touch an entry (mostly the "keys" entry, 'cause i know, where it is ).

Can this bug be fixed by an update or is this a screen error, which must be repaired.
I also updated the software, which now has the version 31.0.101. When i enter the product code of the phone on the "Device Software Update" page, it says, that i can update to the newest version. But when i use the "Nokia Software Updater" on my laptop, it says, that i already use the latest software version. Is something wrong?

I'm sorry to say that your screen is faulty. I've had this happen to a 5800 too.

I suggest you return it to the retailer and ask for a replacement.

Just as i thought. But the problem is, that i bought the phone in a shop, where second hand mobile phones are being sold. And the phone has no more warranty left. Today, i asked for the price, what it would cost, if i'd let pepair it; they said "about 53 $".

And what about the software problem? The newest software version for the 5800 is 40.xxx as good as i can remember. Any suggestions?

If you want it fixing you will have to pay then. Updating the software to the latest v40 will not fix it.

The software problem could be caused by the phone being modified. It's possible that it may have been changed to include other languages so it's code doesn't match what the phone is set to giving you the wrong information.

The solution to that cannot be posted here due to the rules of this forum. I suggest you ask for help elsewhere with that, for example the forums at dailymobile.se

nokia 5800 i need solution for bug screen i buy my nokia 5800 XM on 22.08.2009 last year and it's brand new not second hand. So please create update for this error...

Did you not read this thread before you posted on it? As said earlier a software update isn't going to fix it, your phone has a faulty screen so contact the retailer or a nokia care point for assistance.
