Hi guys!
I am thinking of buying a Nokia 5530 but have no experience of any modern mobiles with WAP etc.
I want to be able to use internet, free, via Wi-Fi hotspots but I absolutely do not want my phone to go connecting itself to internet via WAP or EGRS or whatever, as I am operating on a very limited pay-as-you-go scheme.
If I get a 5530, will I find it easy to set the phone up so I can operate normally (calls & text messages permanently on) and connect to internet by wi-fi when I choose, but NEVER have the phone trying to connect to potentially expensive services?
I downloaded & read the 159-page handbook, but…
Please excuse the dumb question and any errors, & thanks in advance for any help!

You can set your phone to always ask you which connection to use before connecting or you can just delete the GPRS and WAP access points if you never wish to use them. You always have the option to reintall them later.
I have mine set to ask me. It is a little more cumbersone when connecting but I am never in such a rush that a few seconds matters.
