This problem is not a car manufacturer problem – but a home grown Nokia one!

What ***NOKIA*** need to do in their next software release for the N95 is ***ADD*** the Phonebook Access Profile. When its added, then it will work.
The Newer Audi Kits, such as on the Q7 - use the SIM access profile, which the N95 Supports.
I disagree that Nokia fully test their accessories with the handsets, I know of a number of Nokia Accessories that are incompatible.
Two Examples:
Nokia N95 and BH-900 Bluetooth Headset - Sound Quality bad.
Nokia 6230 (early software) and CK-7W - Causes CK-7w amplifier to Clip causing sound quality problems.
Shunts...

"High-end telephony: the second generation of the Mercedes-Benz Bluetooth® (SAP) telephone module offers even more possibilities.
The familiar Bluetooth® telephone module with SAP (SIM Access Profile) technology can now also be used with the Nokia business-optimised E60, E61 and E70 mobile phones."
...guess what? It doesen't work, it pairs, I receive and make calls but no contacts download, no history calls etc. I'm just looking for an opportunity to test one of such E series devices but, honestly, I'm pessimist.

Bottom line is that the N95 won't work and the E61 won't work with the MMI. The best solution I've seen is to download your contacts from another phone but the MMI only stores 100 so not much use.
Nokia don't give a shxt and so I've ditched the N95 and the E61 and carry on with Sony ericsson K800i.
So does anyone know of a phone that does the following:
3.2mp camera or better
MMI compatability
3G
Software for opening MS documents (which is the one thing the K800i doesn't do)
Not much to ask is it!
Good luck

The funny part of it is that if you ask them, they suggest you a to buy a different CAR, you know, that's not their problem as far as there is no compatibility list written with gold ink on platinum paper and signed with blood.
As already said before, it's like if your car would go only with a certain "brand" of fuel...
Anyhow, the very same politic has been already followed by a certain company named IBM in the early 80's..., they've almost been forced to close down..., let's see what happens more than 20 years later...

It is a sure road to disaster when companies start to ignore what the customers are saying. Like I’ve stated earlier, check the web, this problem with their Bluetooth incompatibility not just to Audi but lots of other makes of cars have been around for over 6 months. That shows a very impressive ability to ignore customer feed-back!
I started this thread just a few weeks ago, and looking at the number of hits it has had since then, I think it is safe to assume that there are a lot of people affected or atleast worried about his impairment.
So come on Nokia make our day and get your act together. When can we expect a fix for the S60 Symbian giving it the PBAP facility like its older brother S40?

Hi Shuntfield, I'm not sure about that. I've the same problem with N95 and the latest version of BT module installed on my 07 ML 320, MB states the following:
"High-end telephony: the second generation of the Mercedes-Benz Bluetooth® (SAP) telephone module offers even more possibilities.

dfulgo, the phone is missing an Access Profile which prevents the car from pulling the data off the phone, because its missing on the phone the car cannot access it. The N95 does have SIM access profile, and it can be switched on in the Bluetooth Menu.
The SIM access profile means that the car has the GSM phone in it, it access the phones SIM card, and shuts the phone down, like a Virtual Bluetooth SIM card. This is different, if the Phonebook access is missing, then the car cannot pull the contents over to it, but everything else will work, as you state
As for the phones you mention then I dont know about those because I dont have one. I hope this helps

I have the 810 application installed on the N95 - and it copied my phone book in no problem.
The Voicemail and a few others dont work but the bulk of it is functioning.
Perhaps because its the newest version of the software in the car or the kit is slightly different.

Ive just got a brand new S3 with bluetooth prep and have the N95, having being extremely frustrated with all the problems previously discussed in this thread, id greatly appreciate it if you could run through how you got your phonebook across to the MMI.
many thanks

Do you have the navigation system in your S3?
What you need to do is:
Install the Nokia 810 Push application onto your phone with the Nokia Suite.
If you dont have Nokia Suite Download it here: http://europe.nokia.com/A4144903
To get the Nokia 810 Push Application go here: http://europe.nokia.com/A4143881
Download and install the application: "Nokia 810 Contact Download Application for Nokia S60 3rd edition devices" If you are unsure how to install, there is also a Guide on that page to install it.
When you have the application on your phone, Delete the Bluetooth Pairing from BOTH the car and the phone.
Start the Download Application on the N95. Then when it is running in the background, pair the Bluetooth in the Phone to the car again, this should then initiate the transfer of the contacts.
Hope this helps.

can you check your car side BT version-ID and post it here. I would like to check with my dealer, whether it's possible to get my A6 MMI software updated and to what!
I'm guessing you must have a newer version in your S3 - lucky you :-)
PS: Isn't the edit function cool! Somebody must be watching...

I'm guessing that the "AUDI UHV XXXX" where the X is the Version number?
Mine says "AUDI UHV 8993" on when paired. If not, can you let me know where to find it and I will post back.
The S3 was built Week 30/2007.
Hope this helps.

I don't believe that they will give us a timeline for a fix, because I don't believe there will ever be a fix - they just aren't interested - end of story!
... then again perhaps I will be proved wrong ;-)
Still very frustrated...

My main purpose is to see who call, missed call, recent dial and dialed number. I had pay quite alot for this headset and end up only can see "Incoming Calls" and also no Recent Calls log. Nokia own BT product cannot work with own N95..

I don't want to sound sarcastic, but have you thought about buying a mobile with proper BT functionality? I think you would be pretty safe getting a SonyErricson. My guess is your new headset would give you all the functionality you are expecting. I wouldn't hang around waiting for Nokia to do something about the N95 though. As you may have noticed in this and other threads across the web they "don't have a Bluetooth problem"!
Personally I think it stinks, that their own devices don't harmonize properly. But I think Nokia's main aim is to make lots of money and their second aim is to make even more money...
Sorry to hear someone else has fallen into the trap.
Still holding my breath and going a bit blue

Well Nokia if you do read this then I have one more bit of info :
1) My Nokia 6230 works fine with my Car but my N95 does not. So if it is the cars compatibility issue then how come my 6230 works ?
2) Consider yourselves having one customer less.
