Wanted to add my experience to this thread.
I bought a Lumia last week, had days of random reboots with no visible cause. After reading a few replies here I thought to try and secure the sim card in the cradle to eliminate a faulty sim or the fact that it originally sat slightly loose in the cradle. I stuck a small piece of tape to the side of the sim to make sure it wouldn't move within the cradle. Since doing this I've had 48 hours of use with no reboots.
Hope that helps anyone who's suffering from this problem.

I've got my Lumia 800 3 days ago and I'm having the same issue. It worked all day today but I came home, connected to Wi-Fi (this may not be the cause) and started using the phone. It rebooted 3 times since! Reinstalled SIM-card but let's see if this helps... ![]()

Hello!
I'd got my lumia in Saint-Petersburg and have expirienced same issue.
Had 3-5 random reboots in a day. Hard resed not helped.
When I read this thread I tried to put a small piece of paper behind the sim and it helped.
"Behind a sim" means increasing the thickness of the sim to provide locking it in a cradle.
So now I use my lumia whole day without reboots.
Hope it will help you.
Good luck

The paper workaround didn't work for me. But it's definetly a SIM issue.
My whole sim card holder seems to be too loosely. If I touch it and move it a little bit, the phone immediately reboots. It happens even when the hatch for the charging cable is closed.
So I can reproduce the issue, now. Additionally it still happens random.
So I have to send my phone in. My Provider doesn't exchange phones after 7 days of usage, so they are going to send my Lumia to Nokia and it will take 4 weeks ... merry christmas.

Just wanted to say that this issue is solved in the latest firmware: The phone does not reboot anymore, if you eject the Sim-card.
Consequently the phone doesn't reboot random, if it looses the contact to the Sim-card for just a millisecond due to a loose Sim-Card holder, either.

Just to say this problem has NOT been solved with a firmware fix!
I have had my 800 since release and not had any problems until yesterday when I removed and replaced my Sim tray. After this I experienced the random reboots and reboot loops. My firmware is xxx8107.
It is definitely a hardware issue, now to test it if I knock or press on or near sim tray the unit immediately shuts down.
This is disappointing as up till yesterday this did not happen, my sim tray is firmly located and sim is not loose.
(I will try the paper trick to ensure this and ascertain if the solution works for my phone, and get back to you)

My Lumia also reboots sometimes, but only when trying to place a call (I've not detected random reboots when idle). It happened again today after updating to the latest firmware. It's hard to believe it's a SIM issue as I've tried several times to extract/insert it and Its still sufferig reboots. And of course it's not solved with the latest firmware.

I have the problems with random reboots after latest firmware and operation system updates. Mostly on place to call or go back from Airplane Mode. No random reboots before.

Same problem here and I am hoping the best.
Nokia Care Taiwan have told me to bring along my phone and they will check it and I think it will be waste of time after reading all the messages here....
Tis issue will surely stop me purchasing future Nokia (or even windows) phones.

I have a similar problem.
I turn the phone off at night and connect the charger. The phone continually reboots. I note that a possible cause is that the sim card holder may be loose but mine seems fine?

Hello all,
I didn't want to post anything, but it is getting rediculuos.. I get random reboots during the day when the phone is just laying on the desk in front of me, when it is in the pocket, when i try to browse the web.. I (and i'm sure many others) would apreciate if someone from Nokia could provide some kind of a solution.
P.S. I have the latest firmware, tryed changing microsim card, hard reseting, rolling back on previous firmware. Puting tape on a sim card.. Nothing helped so far
