Lumia 800 Bluetooth: Waht exactly is it compatible with?

Seriously, I used the contact transfer app and it link to my 5530 fine, then I went to Bluetooth pictures from my 5530 to the Lumia 800 and it came up "Not Compatible" even though it had just been connected and used O_O

Then my friend wanted to send me something from her Samsung Galaxy S II and that came up as "Not Compatible"

Then another friend who has a HTC HD7 tried to connect and it came up "Not Compatible" yet again!?

Isn't the point of Bluetooth that it works across everything?

Re: Lumia 800 Bluetooth: Waht exactly is it compatible with?

Bluetooth is not a single specification, but a long list of possible "profiles" for various purposes.

For the Lumia 800, the listed Bluetooth profiles on http://www.developer.nokia.com/Devices/Device_specifications/Lumia_800/ are: A2DP, AVCTP, AVDTP, AVRCP, GAVDP, HFP, HSP, PBAP, RFCOMM, SPP.

For, e.g., the Nokia 700 (Symbian Belle) the profiles listed on http://www.developer.nokia.com/Devices/Device_specifications/700/ are: A2DP, AVRCP, BIP, DUN, FTP, GAP, GOEP, HFP, HSP, OPP, PBAP, SAP, SDP, SPP.

E.g., the missing DUN (Dial-Up Networking Profile) means that you can't use the Lumia 800 as a Bluetooth "modem" to a PC. The missing FTP (File Transfer Profile), OPP (Object Push Profile) and GOEP (Generic Object Exchange Profile) means that you can't send files or contacts, calendar events to/from the Lumia 800 over Bluetooth.

Here's a list of the various Bluetooth profiles and what they're for:

Re: Lumia 800 Bluetooth: Waht exactly is it compatible with?

@petrib, Do you know if the bluetooth problem is able to be fixed/made able to be used 'across the board' via a software/firmware update or is this a hardware issue?

thanks, luke

I suppose Microsoft could fix it with a firmware update, if they wanted to. I don't know if they ever will, though.

This is a must. I cast my vote.

I wish Lumia will not turn to our Cantonese Word "niama".
