Whenever I connect my Lumia 800 to a Bluetooth earpiece, in idle mode the phone keeps connecting and disconnecting from the earpiece (using a Nokia "J" by the way). Good news is during a call, the connection will stay solid during the call thank God.
But it gets very annoying hearing "device connected..device disconnected ... device connected.." etc. every 15-20 seconds. I tried with Jawbone, Blueant ear pieces as well - same story.
I have deleted, re-paired, hardware reset (holding power button on phone down 10 seconds until reset), and even done a hard reset on the phone.
I have a native micro-SIM installed (NOT a cut down card) so I think I have done everything possible I can do from my end to resolve this.
Questions:
1) (obvious) Is this a known issue and is there any kind of a resolution I haven't tried yet?
2) Is this something that is being worked on in an upcoming firmware update?
Thanks in advance!

You should try out the xbox 360 bluetooth headset. It connects perfect and it's ADP2 compatible so you can stream music or netflix audio through your headset.

Thank you for the suggestion, ejovi.
Can you please clarify something though - before you tried the XBox, had you tried other earpieces? If so, did you have the exact same problem I am having? Or do you just like the XBox better? Or is the XBox the only one you have ever used with your Lumia 800?
Your reply though helpful, doesn't answer whether this will fix my problem - if it does I don't mind shelling out another $40 for the XBox unit. But if this is a pathology unique to my phone, I then need to seek a warranty replacement. Didn't want to pursue that yet without checking here first to see if there was a fix such as you are suggesting, or if it's something in all Lumia 800s so wouldn't be resolved by replacing the phone either...

You don't need to shell out another $40 on a Xbox headset when yours should work perfectly - likely the Xbox headset won't work properly either.
I have a Plantronics headset, and it works perfectly. It has the same A2DP profile that the Xbox set has, and has voice notifications.
Seeing as you've tried other headsets with the same Lumia, and the problem was the same, it has to be some kind of problem with your device. It definately is not an issue common with all Lumias.

I have a plantronics 395 headset and I normally use the xbox headset on the lumia 800. It seems like I have to keep pairing the plantronics 395 to get it connected, but with the xbox bt headset it connects automatically everytime I turn on my bluetooth on the lumia 800. Another thing I noticed was the plantronics 395 headset doesn't suport AD2P, but the Xbox BT headset supports it. XBOX BT headset FTW!!!
