Re: Is wireless sync meant to work on Lumia?

1) WiFi must be turned on on the device
2) Device must be plugged into the charger
3) Wireless Sync will then automatiaclly start approx 10mins after the device starts charging.

You know what... this does NOT work for me.  Is it a faulty phone? I have done everything right.

Just wait a bit more and itshould automatically start. If not just delete the Device from Zune (in the settings) and set it up again. Also heck you PC firewall settings or if you router is blocked the Phone's MAC addres etc..

Re: Is wireless sync meant to work on Lumia?

I cannot figure this out too... I tried changing the WEP type for the SSID, but still the same problem.

It would be nice if this is finally fixed.

Tethering is part of Mango to just clear that bit up.

Re: Is wireless sync meant to work on Lumia?

You must first setup wireless sync. Connect your phone to your PC and (auto)start Zune; in the Zune phone settings enable wireless sync.

After that connect your phone to mains using the Nokia supplied USB cable and adaptor. Within 10 mins or so you will here a sound on your PC as if an USB device is attached. Now you can sync pictures, music etc. If there is no sync activity anymore the connection will be terminated (you hear the USB sound again). After a couple of minutes the connection will be re-enabled again (USN sound) and so on until you either switch off your PC of disconnect the phone from mains.

Re: Is wireless sync meant to work on Lumia?

Hi Henk, Thank you for the advice.

I tried it again. I cannot even get through the settings part.

After I connect the WP7 to PC, Zune is auto loaded up.

I click into the Settings, and go to Wireless Sync

I click button "SET UP WIRELESS SYNC".

When the black screen comes, I click NEXT.

Then the User Account Control box pops up with Zune asking for permission. I click Yes.

Then I get the Error:

CANT DETECT YOUR PHONE.

An Error has occurred.

Zune was unable to connect to the wireless network access point.

To see if there's more info, click Web help.

ERROR CODE

C00D07C9

This being said, the PC and the phone remains connected to the same wireless SSID all the while.

Is this normal?

Please help.

Thank you.

This is weird! I use it on a WinXP system with an account that does not have Admin rights. I don't get an Admin popup when enabling Wireless Sync. What version of Windows are you using?

Of course I first installed Zune using an account with Admin rights (I installed Zune months before I got the Lumia). But then I connected the Lumia 800 using my normal non-Admin account. I think I might have seen some Admin-popup while installing the WP7 and Lumia 800 device drivers, but I can't remember that anymore (it's been 3 months now).
