Well, Pc Suite was occasionally problematic - but it worked the majority of the time. However the Ovi application refuses:
to sync. all of my contacts;
to sync any calendar entries;
to sync tasks;
Perhaps that's because I use Windows 7?. I don't suppose that the Nokia company ever considered that the operating system would be upgraded? Anyway it is a great mistake to use Ovi and I will be uninstalling it straight awy. I could only just believe some of the comments in this thread - a "major company" releasing something soo flakey is irresponsible and demonstrates that there is a disregard for its user base.
I have been a Nokia user - along with all of my family - for 10 years. Contracts are up for renewal in March 2010 - definately going to look elsewhwere.

I have the same issues as described above; unable to connect my N85 to OVI suite despite having worked perfectly with PCSuite 7.1. I would never have upgraded had my PCSuite not told me to when I started it up - and now I regret it.
I have found the whole experience totally underwhelming and the lack of response by Nokia appauling - no wonder they are losing market share - a simple acknowledgment on these boards of the problem and advice of a timeline when they'll be patched would be enough. There are plenty of people who have experienced this issue to see it is widespread and not just a dodgy download.
Additionally the OVI online tools offer much but deliver little - the online notes do not allow windows resize and lists of notes & tasks cannot be sorted!
Nokia - please get this fixed - this could all be sooo good.

Hi, first of all: we extremely sorry about these issues with these sync issues. We're currently studying this issue with highest priority and trying to get this resolved.
There's few things, which I would like, that each of you summarize when continuing writing comments & error reports about this topic:
- Have you configured Outlook sync on in Nokia Ovi Suite? If yes, which version of Outlook?
- Have you used Nokia Ovi Suite Beta version?
- Do you have or have you had Nokia Music or Ovi Player PC application installed into PC?
- When installing Ovi Player or when updating from Nokia Music to Ovi Player, did you experience any problems?
Please try to report above topics in all details, that helps us solving this issue.
thanks, Samuli

Hi,
I've got an N97 with V20 software on it. I had the previous version of Ovi suite working nicely. Then "The Update" happened and nothing worked from that point on!
I have configured Ovi sync to "work" with Outlook 2007 SP2 on Windows 7 Ultimate.
I haven't used Ovi Beta version
I previously had Nokia Music player working correctly.
After the upgrade Ovi Music reported it could not find tracks (presumably on the N97) although there were plenty.
I've since downgrade to PC Suite V7.1 with Ovi Player and everything appears to work correctly.
Hope this helps!

Samuli -
Thanks for your reponse to my message above - appreciated.
As requested below are the technical details of my environment taken from the Help | About | System Information in Ovi. Additionally I am using Outlook 2007 SP2
Please note - I have been using PCSuite for some time with various versions of Outlook (~3 years) with no problem at all.
I DO have Ovi player installed, and when I startup Ovi i get 'track not found' message(or similar - I am not at my normal PC right now). There were no problems in upgrading nokia music to ovi pc player - this was done some time ago.
If you need any more information then please do not hesitate to contact me, look forward to hearing from you.

Hi,
By any chance any of your contacts has not got Last name on your contacts list?
03-Dec-2009 06:25 AM
- Using Outlook 2007 (on both PCs)
- I'm currently using what Ovi Suite was released.
- Yes I updated Ovi Player from when Nokia PC suite said there was an update and no I didn't receive any problems.
There's not much else I can give you unless you go and backtrack on my previous replies.

At least one of my contacts doesn't have a LastName set. Several do not have FirstName set.

Hi Omegon,
If the count is less, why not fillup the me(i)ssing entries and try to sync then?
03-Dec-2009 10:06 PM
I'm getting the same error. Also it doesn't sync. Photos or Messages.
- Have you configured Outlook sync on in Nokia Ovi Suite? If yes, which version of Outlook?
No, I don't.
- Have you used Nokia Ovi Suite Beta version?
I guess not.
- Do you have or have you had Nokia Music or Ovi Player PC application installed into PC?
Yeah, I have Nokia Ovi Player installed.
- When installing Ovi Player or when updating from Nokia Music to Ovi Player, did you experience any problems?

Anyway, you guys from Nokia are rockin'.

Hi,
I can sync my Contacts, Messages and Notes just fine. Calender sync aborts with the "80043bd4" re-connect your phone error.
If it helps:
-Have you configured Outlook sync on in Nokia Ovi Suite? If yes, which version of Outlook?
Yes, Outlook 2007 SP2
-Have you used Nokia Ovi Suite Beta version?
Nope.
-Do you have or have you had Nokia Music or Ovi Player PC application installed into PC?
Whatever that is - no I did not.
-When installing Ovi Player or when updating from Nokia Music to Ovi Player, did you experience any problems?
Never heard of and installed that software. this is a fresh Windows 7 x64 install.
I've to admit I worked in mobilephone customer care for quite some time - so i'm VERY careful when it comes to installing software from cellphone vendors. In my opinion they all digg waaaay too deep in the system(at least on Windows).
Thanks.

Hi,
I was having the same issues and spent half the day on it.
I am using windows xp sp3.
Here is how I got it working:
- Disconnect the N9 Mini
- Close Outlook 2007
- Go to Control Panel-> Add and remove programs.
- Uninstall ALL Nokia software. The Ovi, driver, software updater etc etc.
- Restart windows (Do not start Outlook yet)
- Once restart complete, go to C:\Documents and Settings\<my user>\Application Data. Delete all Nokia folders
- Go to C:\Documents and Settings\<my user>\Local Settings\Application Data and delete all Nokia folders
- Go to C:\Program Files\ and delete all Nokia folders
- Download latest Nokia Ovi suite from the web (Nokia_Ovi_Suite_webinstaller.exe)
- Install latest Nokia Ovi and try to resync (it worked)
This worked for me. I still don't understand why it didn't work when I did the software update.

that worked! you my friend are a genius - many thanks!!
I trust the nokia 'support' people will hand over some of their salary as you are doing their job for them - their silence on this issue is incredible - especially bearing in mind so many folk are struggling with this one. Very good of you to share your hard won info!
Nokia:

How about you suggest this to people as a solution?
How about you put it on the nokia ovi FAQ?
How about when you release software you have a changelog on the website so people can see bugs fixed?
How about you fix some very basic bugs such as ovi needs to first of all to clean out any residual pcsuite software before it can install?

Hi all,
That worked fine for me, after the second try.
First, I forgot to delete all folders in C:\Documents and Settings\<my user>\Application Data ; after that, I was just able to sync my Contacts.
Then I uninstalled everything again, followed all the steps described above, and finally everything is working now !
Thank you mate ![]()
I just have a question about photos sync : Only the november 2009 have been synced (although I have dec-09 photos on my n97)... anybody could tell me if that's normal? (maybe the whole dec_09 folder will be synced in jan-10?)
THank you!

That's it, I finally managed to run this software thanks to Theshads. However, serious problems remain, particularly on the music module. Here are a few:
How to customize the storage path of music files?
Why do some files sync and others do not?
The sync option does not copy the file on the computer, so what does it?
Same strange behavior with the photo module but it's possible to customize the path here.
Concerning contacts module and messages module, where data are stored and how? What file extension? What file location ?
All these worries do not inspire confidence in this product, I keep on using the PC Suite version for the moment.

Kudos to theshads!
Amazing work buddy!
Works like a charm!
I certify that the solution works for Windows 7 as well.
Only difference would be the path of the Application Data which in Windows 7 is known as AppData.
Here's what I did:
1. Disconnected phone from the PC.
2. Uninstalled ALL Nokia software (Ovi Suite, Ovi Files, Ovi Player, PC connectivity Solution, Nokia Software Updater, drivers, etc) using Add / Remove programs in the Control Panel.
3. Restarted Windows.
4. Ran CCleaner.
5. Deleted all Nokia related folders under C:\Users\username\AppData\Local and C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming folders in Windows 7.
6. Downloaded and installed latest Ovi Suite from Nokia website. (Nokia_Ovi_Suite_webinstaller.exe)
7. Finally, run the Ovi Suite and Resync.
Worked like a charm for me.
My guess is that the above steps can also be used by Windows Vista users as both Windows Vista and Windows 7 use an identical filesystem architecture..

Ok, I'm going to try it again with musafir's steps.
Wish me luck ppl!!!
07-Dec-2009 09:35 PM
OMG YAY!!!
Followed the instructions AGAIN by musafir and theshads and it finally WORKED!! Thanks guys!
(Make sure you delete all Nokia / PC Suite Folders)

encouraged by the optimistic ending of the thread - and thinking that a clean install of OVI suite on a brand new Windows 7 untouched by any Nokia applications whatsoever would go smoothly,
but no ![]()
I used a USB cable for my E71 - and it did not manage to recognize the device. I chose PC suite mode - the USB reacted - all services came up - but with a red cross on I think syncml -
and now - PC suite.
