Hi,
I'm also having problems syncing my contacts and music using Ovi Suite. When I try to sync my contacts I get the error message:
"Sync cancelled
Could not continue syncing.
Reconnect the USB cable to the device, or connect via Bluetooth. Then try syncing again.

I have tried with the USB cable, with Bluetooth, I have rebooted, reinstalled the various bits of software, and I can't get it to work.

I have an E71 with latest firmware
I am running windows 7 x86-64, pretty much plain vanilla (I normally use linux, win7 is here just for testing stuff like VPN software for my job as network engineer) with very few applications installed - no MS Office/Outlook etc at all.
I used to have an E65 and wanted to transfer my contacts over to the E71; didn't need anything else at all. Made a backup with PC Suite just fine. But then PC Suite would not restore the E65 backup's contacts to E71 - a disaster! Just like this thread about ovi suite, there's a huge suite about PC Suite failing to restore devices, and that suggested trying ovi suite, so I did, and it worked (phew).
Then some time later ovi suite decided to do an update, so I let it, and also I think I installed the ovi sync contacts plugin on the phone. Around that time, I think the e71 stopped syncing contacts and messages with ovi suite, but still sync'd photos and music; however, it did sync with ovi online in the contacts application. I couldn't get syncML to work though, in fact the sync app doesn't appear to even run on my E71.
Today I did an ovi update and it was updated, I thought I'd try bluetooth for once, and got the connection problem, searched for the error and discovered this thread.
Like many, I am dismayed, but doubly so, having been let down by Nokia with TWO different support packages. I imagine that ovi suite has a lot of commonality with pc suite, but have different file structures so that if one breaks you can get the other to work until that breaks. And then at that point you have to expunge all nokia software from your computer thoroughly and reinstall.
Similarly, I participated in a long thread about Nokia failing to provide timely E65 updates, and you know what? A bunch of angry people fed up with Nokia too.
*** Nokia, you let yourself down on so many fronts.
At least you're doing firmware updates better on devices, but you're simply failing to provide a working ecosystem for the entire phone experience... it's just too flakey.
Once apon a time you only had to beat Sony Ericsson on the PC support side, and that wasn't really too hard, was it? Now, the bar has been raised by the iphone, and you've got a long way to climb!!

p.s. I followed the advice to find the bignumber directory in the c:\users\blahblah directories and deleted them (I had to run windows services control panel and stop ServiceLayer so that I could delete some of them as they were locked). I guess the only thing left is the expunge/reinstall process. sigh. and this windows7 install is only a few weeks old.

Tried this solution worked first time - thanks. Nokia are behind the curve on this and will lose customers faster than you can say Iphone!

I have:
Windows Vista SP2
A new E63
A fresh install of OVI Suite 2.1.1.1
I installed everything flawless, I tried to sync outlook contacts and pictures using the USB Cable and also the bluetooth and I am getting the same useless error message. Sync canceled. Error 83930001. No light on this thread and the problem has been hanging around for few months. I am installing PC Suite as I type. Good luck fixing this OVI Suite!

Thanks Nokia - another whole day wasted in trying to sync Outlook with my new X6 ... and no joy. How about you spend some of the money we all give you on employing some developers who can actually write software that works?
I have Vista SP2 and Outlook 2007 which syncs with all my Windows Live information (Hotmail, Contacts, Calendar) via Outlook Connector. I've followed all the advice on this thread and no joy.
So, I have a completely useless phone with no contacts and no calendar on it as Nokia's developer seem to be going backwards. Where can I get PC Suite so I can re-install that???
Come on Nokia - help your customers out ....

well, a new laptop, a fresh install of windows 7 and a newly updated ovi suite, and I get the same old error trying to sync contacts with my E71 (which I rebooted) just to see.
So, basically, I have no confidence in Nokia being able to provide useful support software for my devices. I am glad I didn't buy an n900, but instead went for a Intel Atom Z530-based UMPC on which I run windows and linux, so I am not dependent on nokia any more... I shan't buy any S60 devices ever again and if anyone asks me I would point them to an android device.

Hi all,
So this Nokia Sync problem has been plaguing me for months now. Here's the story:
1) Used to run Windows Vista with PC Suite 7.X. Everything worked fine
2) Upgraded to Windows 7, installed PC Suite 7.X, still, everything works fine
3) Installed Ovi Suite 2.0 (Not beta) and only messages want to sync. Contacts, calendar, tasks won't sync anymore.
4) Followed steps from these posts to remove all nokia products from Windows, delete nokia folders, reboot to clean, and then reinstall Ovi suite 2.0. Works fine.
5) Upgraded to Nokia Ovi suite 2.1 - works fine
6) Nokia proposes to upgrade software (Ovi suite software updater v02.05.002.42441)
7) Contacts, calendar, tasks refuse to sync... ARGH
I noticed that after the upgrade, my Nokia device showed up differently in the Devices & Printers section of Control panel. Windows recognises the phone, shows the photo of it, and proposes options (manage photos, manage music, etc.)
Please, Nokia... fix these problems. I know I'm not the only one having the issues as I'm running the latest firmware (31.0.101.220.03) on a 5800 XpressMusic (RM-356) and my girlfriend is running Windows 7 on another PC with an identical phone and same issues!!!
I admit if this continues (many wasted days looking for answers on the internet) I will not buy Nokia again despite around 10 years of loyalty...

This is my first Nokia (E52).
Many people like the usability from Nokia. I was looking forward to it.
I am very disappointed:
I turned on my brand new E52.
I connected the E52 to my office PC (running un XP) as mentioned in the manual.
The installation of the OVI-suite failed.
Then I copied the files from the memory card on the PC. The installation failed again.
Then I downloaded the new ovi suite from the Nokia site and the installation worked fine.
Then I tried to sync my outlook contacts and got the same error message like all the others in this thread. Very frustrating!
It is now mid of July 2010! I can't believe that this is Nokia.
Google and Apple will love this thread.

Many, many thanks. It worked for me when I had problems with the recent upgrade of Ovi Suite. I kept getting the error message "Sync cancelled".

Error code 83930001 means that sync failed because of a device related problem. Unfortunately, this is more like a generic error and it originates from different kind of problems. Please, call or email to Nokia Care directly. That way we can help you on your specific case.
