I got a nokia 5230 from a friend today as a gift ... so joyfully i downloaded Nokia Ovi suite to start tinkering with it ... the 1st time i opened OVI ... it said updates have been found ... so i checked the boxes for the phones OS update .... and the Ovi maps update. It started doing its thing .. downloading the updates ... but while installing them at the part where it says ... something like "Please do not disconect your phone till this operation is completed" ... the Ovi program got a error ... saying something like "Could not connect to the update service" (or something like that) ... NOW .. the Ovi suite WONT detect my phone anymore ... furthermore i can't see anything on my phone's display. I think this error totally screwed my phone's OS ... ... what can i do to fix this ?

neither ovi .. or the regular nokia suite now ... can't detect my phone (mainly because i think .. the OS in the phone is screwed) ..

The reason OVI Suite can not detect your phone MAY be that the phone is NOT switching ON... as it seems a case of Failed update...

Have you tried with latest Nokia ovisuite 3.1.1.75 ?
It is available here http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/nokia-ovi-suite
