Re: Nokia Suite Update – “Something’s gone wrong” message

Hello, There is absolutely no workabout whatsoever to this problem. There is no way to install Ovi Suite. The one and only way is to re-install windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 on your PC. That's what i did and my Ovi Suite version 3.3 now works like a charm. Troubleshooting this thing ain't gonna lead you nowhere and ain't worth your time and effort.  :smileylol:

SOLVED Re: Nokia Suite Update – “Something’s gone wrong” message

SOLVED  :smileyvery-happy::smileyvery-happy:

Thanks hi007, but it wasn’t necessary to reload Windows.   I followed the procedure described by concorde672 – thanks concorde672 for the tip.

As before, I uninstalled Nokia Suite, Windows Driver Package – Nokia, PC Connectivity Solution, and Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver.   I had also found a folder C:\ProgramData\PC Suite which contained settings and server check files for my phone, but from November 2011.   I deleted this PC Suite folder as well.   I then cleaned the registry using CCleaner, emptied the recycle bin and restarted my PC.  When restarted, I disabled my Firewall and Anti-virus software.   I found Nokia Software Updater from another post in the discussions, downloaded it and ran it, but it hung before finishing the process.   As mikkodss suggested and I agree with him, I don’t think this was actually necessary.   I connected the phone and a driver was loaded.   Then the Windows Update appeared and was loaded successfully.   More drivers were loaded, including accessing “PC Suite Services” which recreated a fresh version of the PC Suite folder (is this what was wrong all the time ?).

The link to Nokia Suite appeared and I installed it from this link.  I note that the file was called Nokia_Suite_WU.exe, but that it installed Nokia Suite 3.3.86 just the same as the download from the Nokia website does.   The Windows Update appeared again but failed to install.  I ignored it.   I restarted Nokia Suite and reconnected the phone, but the message “Something’s gone wrong” appeared yet again when checking for updates.    I then copied the Nokia folder C:\ProgramData\Nokia into C:\Windows\Profiles\All Users\Application Data\Nokia.   I restarted Nokia Suite and reconnected the phone.  Amazing.   Nokia Suite showed an update and no “Something’s gone wrong” message, something not seen for months.   I checked for updates in Nokia Suite and there was the update from firmware 022.014 to 025.007 which was downloaded and installed successfully at long last !   3 more updates then appeared in Nokia Suite which were also downloaded and installed.   The Belle update is not yet released for Orange UK N8-00 059C9F6 phones, but it looks as though I can now update successfully whenever it appears.   Windows confirms that it is up to date (Vista Home Premium 32-bit).  Thanks for all the input in this thread.

Re: SOLVED Re: Nokia Suite Update – “Something’s gone wrong” message

The final solution:

run "regedit" in start menu to open the registry, search "nokia suite" and delete all match entries one by one.

Then OK.

There were so many entries, so please be patient...

It took me about twenty minutes.

Re: Nokia Suite Update – “Something’s gone wrong” message

Hi.   My log file is at the location:-

Log directory is 'C:/Windows/Profiles/All Users/Application Data/Nokia/Nokia Suite/NOSSU2/logs', but this is the log file for Nokia Suite when it's operating, not for installation of an update, so may not give you the info you need to solve the problem.   Judging from the picture attachment I would try again but make sure your firewall and virus protection are disabled, if they weren't when you tried the first time.   Hope this helps.

Hello,

You can download and install latest beta version of  Nokia Suite from here ...

To download the installer, you need to log-in with the SAME credentials that you use on this Forum..

Re: Nokia Suite Update – “Something’s gone wrong” message

Hello AmosRPF,

Could you try to run repair when that error happens?

It would recache msi files and fix windows installer's and our installer's caches.

You can try to repair it in the following way:

- Go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel (called Programs and Features in Microsoft Windows 7).

- Select Nokia Suite in the list of applications and click Change/Remove.

- In the dialog that appears, choose Repair. Nokia Suite then checks that all the needed files are intact and repairs any errors that were found.

If it doesn't help could you describe in more details your problem and provide screenshots.

Best regards.
