A new version of OVI = a new host of problems. When are you going to get it right Nokia! Pathetic! I cannot believe how much time I have had to waste to get this fixed.
Ok, enough of the rant. Now for my solution:
Uninstall Nokia Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23 + USB Connectivity driver + Software Updater i.e. anything that is called “Nokia …”
Reboot.
Run the Nokia PC Suite Cleaner – I used Nokia_PC_Suite_Cleaner_7_1_1.exe
Reboot.
Install Nokia Ovi Suite 2.2.0.245, or whatever version you were using before that actually worked.
One other thing I did was turn my anti-virus off for each step but this may not be necessary. My OS is XP SP3.

I am not sure whether this will work for you but please try it one.
1. Uninstall Ovi Suite, PC Connectivity solution and Nokia Connectivity cable drivers from Add/remove program if anything is there.
2. Delete the files from here If anything is there
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Nokia\Ovi Suite
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\OviInstallerCache
3. Please search and download MSI clean up utility from microsoft website
Once installed please select the programs related to Nokia and click remove.
Restart Computer.
Then download from microsoft website and install Windows Installer, so that the installer is upto date.
4. Now download and install latest NOS and try to sync

MSI uninstall tool is no longer available from Microsoft's website.
Downloaded installer 4.5 and several other hotfixes.
Still fails with error: 8393f00b

Appreciate the suggested steps but, unfortunately, they did not work (tried it twice).
OVI did install without error but will not connect to Outlook. When trying to sync the “Waiting to be synced…” message appears for each section (Contacts, Photos, etc.) but never syncs.
Under options -> contacts -> Sync with contacts application -> Microsoft Outlook is selected but the contacts tree does not appear in the window below, instead there is a message “Check your profile in Microsoft Outlook. Then try again”. I have checked my outlook profile and contacts and there are no errors\problems that I can see.
No errors in event log.
Rolling back to 2.2.0.245 (using steps described in my post above) worked first time.

so the idiots at Nokia broke the only app that makes me continue to use their lousy software....how can this have passed through testing at this company that probably has thousands of test engineers. if it is not ovi map they break, it is the sync feature. i guess with all the apps we have available to use we shouldnt complain...sarcasm...
ok back to my problem, how are people resolving this problem. my outlook is working fine, why are people suggesting the need to repair outlook..etc...can someone who fixed this in an easier way please suggest a proper fix?

I got an answer by the support that helped...
1. deinstall ovi suite
2. delete "MDataStore.db3"; hidden file! located here:
Windows XP:
C:\documents and setting\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia\Nokia Data Store\DataBase
Windows Vista/7:
C:\user\Appdata\local\Nokia\Nokia Data Store\DataBase
3. download and install newest ovi version
good luck...

tpt635601: Thank you for the reply but those steps in your post just seem too risky. And I believe this is a OVI\Nokia issue not Outlook. I am not hacking my Outlook to get Nokia's cr4p software to work.
:
no_more_nookia: 100% agree. I also cannot believe an organization like Nokia (large company, 1000s of employees and resources at their disposal, market leaders [sarcasm]) can allow such a poor quality piece of software to be launched.
:
Cryo1977: Thank you for the suggestion. This sounds like something I will try. Will let you know if it works.

Hi.
I have had problems synchronizing outlook2003 calendar with my 6700slide since i upgraded to ovi suite 2.2.x
I tried the solution suggested by Cryo1977, and that fixed my problem. Thanks, Cryo!

...and two days later it did not synch again.... Does Nokia want me to do the procedure every 2 days?

Hey Guys,
I´ve got the solution. I just deleted that
"MDataStore.db3"; hidden file without deinstalling and reinstalling Ovi! located here:
Windows XP:
C:\documents and setting\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia\Nokia Data Store\DataBase
Windows Vista/7:
C:\user\Appdata\local\Nokia\Nokia Data Store\DataBase
...startet Ovi again without reinstalling it. Ovi suite had no contacts anymore - but after synching everything was fine. Maybe again for only 2 days, but now I know which file to delete...
14-Oct-2010 12:52 PM
Just a subtle warning:
Every time you delete the MDataStore.db3 -file - you also delete all contacts and text messages that might be stored in Ovi Suite. Also other metadata may be lost (music playlists, photo albums, etc).
For the above reason we do NOT RECOMMEND that you delete this file manually.

...yes, that might be right.
But as I only use ovi to sync my mobile with my computer, I do not care...

I too tried the solution but it didnt work, and I now have a different problem. On the rare occasion when it tries to sync it gets half way through calendar and tasks sync then hangs. I also am not interested in synching all the other stuff, the only bit I want to work is the calendar sync, come on Nokia it is about time you sorted this out!!
15-Oct-2010 09:56 AM
Just solved the problem. Uninstalled Ovi Suite and re-installed PC Suite, connects instantly, syncs first time, and also the added bonus of no more clever graphics on screen and my text messages sent and recieved are now listed rather than being grouped into "conversations" which you cant follow. Whoever designed the Ovi Suite interface at Nokia should be fired!!!! Progress eh???:

Hi xkubr,
Hit into the same problem after upgrading OVI Suite today. ![]()
Eventually, I found the solution to be that you have to sync one particular item at the start up of OVI Suite, before you can sync "all". E.g. sync "Contacts", after the sync is completed successfully, proceed to sync "All".
Got this from /t5/Nokia-Ovi-Suite/Nokia-Ovi-Suite-2-2-1-23-has-b
Hope this helps.
Cheers.

I couldn't get Ovi Suite to sync at all with Outlook 2007 on XP SP3. I tried all combinations of deleting and reinstalling and no luck at all.
More information here.

Hi Jody,
Mine appears to be a different problem; I've got no issues with the preference, though it took a small while for OVI Suite to scan through the folders of Outlook and Exchange.
Diwa's solution works for me, except that I MUST DISABLE auto sync. Have you tried it?
Cheers.
27-Oct-2010 06:37 PM
Hi,
I don't have autosync on at all.
Still, it is hard to understand why PC Suite has no problems at all and Ovi Suite is so broken. I don't know if they are both using the same Intellisync system underneath though, so that might explain it.
Regards,
Jody

I give up..... Just bought a new N8 with utterly useless OVI software. Does not sync with Outlook 2007 contacts and calendar - have been trying for the last 2 days without success. Judging by the comments on the web, this seems to be a coomon issue and Nokia does not want to do anything about it. I am going back to my Android based phone - at least the sync works beautifully. The sad thing is the N8 is a beautiful phone, but OVI has completely ruined the experience - I have now got a very expensive N8 phone which should not be classified as a SmartPhone.
