Hi all.
First - thanks for your patience, we've been working hard to get this update for you and we believe, that this latest release improves certain issues you've been facing with previous Nokia Ovi Suite versions.
Secondly - now it's time update to new Nokia Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23, which we have now released to everybody. You can get it from:
- Within Nokia Ovi Suite you should see notification about new update during next couple of days and if you're in hurry, you can get update by checking in Nokia Ovi Suite "Tools" -> "Software updates"
- If you don't have Nokia Ovi Suite installed, you can download it from http://www.ovi.com/suite
Main improvements in Nokia Ovi Suite:
- The stability of Nokia Ovi Suite has been improved
- Map download is more reliable than before
- Video playback has been improved
- Nokia Ovi Suite now supports syncing contacts with Mozilla Thunderbird 3.1
- Several improvements for Microsoft Outlook 2010 support
- Operator settings lists has been updated to latest (useful, if you use your phone as modem)
Thanks, Samuli on the behalf of Nokia Ovi Suite team

When can we expect Mac support? Its just that the last two years we have been promised that its coming to the Mac, but still no official word on availability.

I had the same issue as the previous post , that is: Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23 won't synchonize with the PC after upgrade.
I've found that occurs if the Ovi Suite is automatically started with the machine boot up. I've got it to synchronize properly by the following procedure:
1. Go to the notifications area and right click on the Ovi icon, click "exit" in the dialogue box which appears;
2. Disconnect, count to 10 and reconnect the device from the PC, wait for it to fully connect up;
3. Manually start Ovi suite and wait for it to fully connect to the device;
4. Open messaging and click "Sync now" wait for the sync to compete;
5. Go back to home page and click "Sync all" and sync proceeds.
I assume Nokia will fix this glitch in Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23 before much longer. I have 3 computers and all have responded to the work around set out above to sync the PC with Ovi Suite.

I tried the in-place update from Nokia Ovi Suite 2.2.1.22 to version 2.2.1.23. During the installation I got the error message:
ServiceLayer:
Could not delete service
After the update has finished, I can successfully start the updated Ovi Suite without any crashes. But I did not find my phone, a N82 recent Bios.
Working PC Suite 7.1.51.0 did also find not longer my phone after the Ovi update
What does this mean?
Why every in-place update to Ovi Suite fails?
That behavior I observed every time I tried to start an in-place update of the Nokia Suite, starting with the first 2.2.x.y version.
Yes indeed, there is a workaround, but it is very time-consuming:

The solution with reconnecting device and manually launching Ovi suite really does work (in my case with E72). Thanks, vinophilius!
Ofcourse still waiting for Nokia to address this bug.

I was initially happy with Ovi Suite but then when I try to customise my sync options it crashes/disappears when I hit ok (although it does apparently save the options). Or it just crashes the moment it searches for the profile in Outlook. Such is the case in Contacts sync options. Also, when I try to sync the contacts it crashes/dissapears.
Another problem that I have is that when I try to open another unrelated program with .jar extension Ovi shows up and tries to (asks me first) install it in the mobile device!!!
Why is this happening? Any got a clue about any of the bugs above?

I upgraded to 2.2.1.23 on the promises that issues with the sync to Outlook were mitigated. It still does not work with my 5230 which was working at one point before I dutifully upgraded to one of the previous versions.
So I followed your instructions about manually starting Ovi. That did not help. I still get the Error 8004fceb. On other attempts it give the message Ovi Suite has stopped working.
My PC is running Vista 32-bit and Outlook 2007. I also upgraded the 5230 with the latest software.
Nokia, what is the issue with the unreliability of the Ovi software? This is very disappointing! I purchased this phone because it would sync with Outlook. It should just work.

having the same problem. after "upgrading" to Ovi 2.2.1.23
phone: N97 mini, software v 12.2.110
PC; vista
I can connect to pc and browse through the phone so connectivity os not the problem.
it sometimes shows my devices name in ovi suite but won't sync. when I hit "sync" button manually nothing happens.
At the moment however my n97 mini doesnt even show as being connected by ovi suite (but like I said, I can browse thru the phone from my PC so it is connected). ovi suite just says "connect your device" in bottom left corner
Ive tried repairing the installation of Ovi Suite...didn't help any
Ive tried repairing the Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver...didn't help any (although this was the problem the previous time I "upgraded" Ovi Suite)
Ive tried exiting Ovi Suite as described in above posts without success either
anyone have any more ideas ?

For teresaashton:
your problem might be the Nokia Connectivity cable Driver".sounds like the same problem i had the last time I upgraded Ovi Suite.
go to control panel > Programs > Uninstall A Program
wait for the list of programs to populate the list
find NOKIA CONNECTIVITY CABLE DRIVER
click on it, then click the "Change" button on the toolbar avove
The Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver installation diablog with start, choose "repair"
be patient and wait for it to finish
restart your PC and try connecting your phone again
Windows will again begin installing drivers so this takes a few minutes more
like I said, your problem sounds like one I had before and this solved it for me back then
Im currently having a different problem after upgrading ovi Suite yet again (as now Ovi wont sync or recognnize my device at all, so other post)

I have the same problem ;-( hopefully nokia will come up with a solution soon.

I have been able to sync a couble of times this way:
I go to massages area and press sync.
After that i could go to the start page and sync the rest by pressing sync all.
But it will unfortunatly only work now and then.
I use windows 7 64 bit and have a Nokia C5 with the latest software installed.

Hi All,
This is for ALL who has sync issues with the latest OVi Suite 2.2.1.23
I have a simple workaround which helps...
Once you have OVi running and your device connected (it works whether the device is connected before or after OVi is launched), first click on sync for contacts or photo or messages. once the sync is over do a full sync it works perfect. No need of disconnecting and reconnecting the device. Also it works later too if the device is disconnected and reconnected back, untill OVi is kept running.
This works either if autosync is enabled or not.

I am wishfully waiting for the support of Mozilla Thunderbird Lightning syncronisation.
Please tell me that it is on your agenda for the next release. ![]()
Any timetable for that function?

Nokia Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23 also no longer syncs when connected to an N73. When the device is connected clicking "Sync messages", for example, has no effect.
I'm surprised that no test engineer caught this major bug - given that syncing with your PC is one of the main purposes of the Ovi software. Perhaps a QA process update is in order.
Also, is Samuli Ylinen or anyone else from the Nokia Ovi Suite team going to comment here to confirm that they've reproduced the bug and have a timetable in place for a fix?

Does the workaround suggested above by vinophilius work for you?
ciao marcus

Hi Keirf,
Have you tried as per my post??
Please remember NOT to try 'Sync all' first. If you try the steps suggested by me after trying out 'Sync all', it will not work.
07-Sep-2010 10:01 AM
Yes, the second time I tried it. The first time I may not have waited 10 seconds after disconnecting the phone. I've yet to verify what happens after I reboot my PC and have the phone connected, however.

Diwa - your solution worked well for me. Thaks.![]()

Diwa, I tried the "simple workaround." Messages do sync when I first open Ovi Suite. However, when I attempt to Sync Contacts or Sync All, I get the message that Nokia Ovi Suite has stopped working.
Hello, Nokia! We need a real fix. What is the timeline?
