i can not load any symbian programs to my 5500. it always gives errors. does 5500 support symbian programs?

Yes, it does.
It is from SYMBIAN OS 9.1 with series 60 3rd edition platform.
It has the sisx extensions and is not backword compatible.
Means the sis apps of N70, 6680 etc wont run on the device.

Allaboutsymbian.com.
Besides:
Symbian ware
Psiloc
Best
etc are class software makers for such smartphones.
