I can't download anything from the Music Store. I always get download failed error message after every single song. Any solutions for this?
My device: X6
OS: Win 7 Professional x64 (no WMP or IE)
Default music player: Foobar2000 v1.0
I will not install WMP to my system and will not use Ovi Player as default player.

Hi there,
I have also the same problem "download failed" ...
I am using Win 7 prof 64Bit, Comes with music, X6, NO Windows Media Player, NO IE..
I got an answer from support telling me to install again after deleting cache, cookies and the database.... This did not help!
Is anyone there using Win 7 who is able to download from Nokia Musik store?
What is the trick?
All hints are appreciated :-)

Hi MikkoY
Do you get any more information about the error if you hover the mouse cursor over the warning triangle?
Thanks,
Elin

It was necessary to install Windows Media Player (WMP), which I already stated in my previous post. DRM doesn't work without it.
The problem is that I didn't have WMP installed at all because I don't like it. Now I was forced to do it.

Hi,
I'm not convinced that installing WMP is the solution to this problem.
Below is are some details;
Mobile Device : Nokia X6
Ovi Player : v2.1.10304
WMP : v11
OS : Windows XP SP2
As shown in the screen attached, I've managed to download albums partially. I've retried many times and still retrying but downloads still are failing.
I am able to play successful downloaded files from WMP & OviPlayer so licencing is not an issue as well.
My Questions;
1. If WMP was the issue that how come some files are successfully downloaded and some are not?
Also note that after several attempts I've also reinstalled WMP however result remains the same
Your feedback is much appreciated, thanks in advance.

hey..
same thing here..
are you from Malaysia?
just noted this happened since around Monday
guessing the cause is Streamyx (ISP) blocking certain ports that Ovi player uses to download
figured this is the case since
1) i'm able to download through my mobile (X6) using the same ISP (through wifi)
2) able to download through mobile using mobile ISP
3) able to download with the same pc that has the download failed problem using the mobile ISP (used my phone as the modem through ovi suite)
havent figured out any way to solve this..
would be glad if someone came up with an actual solution...
I do have WMP and IE...
plus downloads worked fine a couple of weeks ago

I am facing the same problem - downlod fails everytime!!!. This seems to be related to recent change - Nokia Music -> Ovi Music.
Location: India.
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
Ovi Player: version 2.1.10304.00.
Windows Media Player: version 11 (Not sure what does this have to do with WMP).
The topic is marked "Solved", and the resolution indicated is installation of WMP. Other persons having WMP installed still face this problem. I'm new to this forum. Could someone who still faces the issue change the topic to 'Unsolved'.
Any suggestions/help would be appreciated!

@_him , I would suggest you to remove all Nokia software from your PC , delete related files, folders from Program Files. restart then Install in following order.
1) WMP 11
2) Nokia OVI Suite 2.1.1 or PC Suite 7.1 - Ensure that phone connects and you can work.
3) OVI Player 2.1 - Try setting up Folder location , country corectly.
Then give a try again. let me know how it goes. If it helps you can "Kudo" me. ![]()

I have the exact same problem now ... Using Streamyx and all my download failed ... :/ If that the case we wouldn't able to download any songs from now on if the ISP blocked it ...

Quit Ovi Player, try exiting Ovi Suite from the taskbar (Windows 7 - show hidden icons, right click -> exit) and then restart Ovi Player.
Now try downloading. Does it solve the issue?
That's IF you have Ovi Suite installed...

@Suyog: I reinstalled Ovi Suite and Ovi Player. Doesn't help.
I'm not gonna uninstall/reinstall WMP - it came with WinVista and I'm not able to understand how WMP would have anything to do with this download problem. Ovi Suite and Ovi Player were installed on top of this (Vista+WMP), and I'm hoping they would've indicated at install time if they had any WMP dependencies. Anyways, what I understand is that WMP would be required for DRM, and that would matter when I have problems Playing the music, not when downloading.
@_Ant1_: Had already tried what you proposed before posting the query on the forum.
Have written to Nokia Support. Am hoping they would respond sometime after the week starts.

Yes, I am from Malaysia.
@Suyogmh
Tried out your method and was excited for 3mins when only one file download went through.
Others kept failing again.
My conclusion :
1. Nothing is wrong with Windows / WMP as Ovi Player is a 3rd party software running on it so i can only assume bugs and dependency on other Nokia softwares (eg: Ovi Suite or PC Suite)
2. ISP(s) could be the issue as in Malaysia they are are not at 100% customer satisfaction
My Suggestion :
1. Download albums / songs via mobile is the best option I have
2. Locating a free WIFI spot is something I would need to discover
Finally, for those that provided solutions on how their problem were solved I thank you for sharing your solutions.
p/s: since my download licence is valid for a year, it's best i use the time downloading from my mobile instead of figuring out how to get Ovi Player to work on my PC.

@AdamMohdAriff, I guess your from Malaysia where they launched/re-branded Nokia Music to OVI Music.
I can only guess what dependency is between OVi Player and WMP. But it was needed earlier in OVI player for DRM tracks download and playing.
Nokia care response in India is really slow and most of the times they dont understand issues correctly and quickly. You need to write long emails/ make long phone calls to explain them.
And also I find everytime some other help agent handles the call so you need to explain all over again. It is really frustrating state of affairs ![]()
Anyways better luck for you.

Hello, My friends i have got a solution Follows the steps:
1. First uninstall the OVI Player
2. The install a simple download manager which can resume the downloads, like IDM
you can also download it from internet also many free versions is available to the Download.cnet.com and as same sites.
3. Now open the music.nokia.com
4. Log in with your user name and password (Remember now your username contain the "OVI" at the end)
5. Now serch or browse the required Tracks and download it directly from your internet browser using any type of donwload manager.
6. If download stopped in mid then simply slick on the resume of the respective download manager and your download resume when it is stopped.
7. This will definetly download the Tracks without deducting more credits to your account.
8. Please reply thanks if you like this trick.
9. If you wnated any download manager which can resume your downloads then send me request i will provide you the link. But you can also serch it on the free download sites.
