Nokia6320

Hi all I am a newbie to the Mobile Phone system .I have just boiught a Used Nokia 6320and also another Nokia being a 3315.
I will be going along to the Telstra shop tomorrow as my grandson tells me I have to get aSimcard for one of the phones . The 6320 he tells me is the better of the 2 so I will concentrate on that one . I just mentioned the 3315 by way of passing .
.
I am reall only interested in using it as abasic phone at this sateg but would like to hear from anyone else whos has time to spare to tell me about some of the features that go with this phone . I will probably know a little more tomorrow after going to the Telstra shop .
From the description given by the seller the phone has Bluetooth. Mystery to me........ MMS enabled also complete mystery..MP3 Player ......same again Polyphonic ringtones ........ditto and Radion Ditto Vibration I suspect that is to use when you dont want to annoy others with the ringtones
So folks it will be nice to hear from anyone who has alittle time to spare and has first hand experience with a Nokia 6320 Model and I will look in here later in the day to check any responses Many thanks Wotsgoingonnow

I does not matter wheter the phone is new or used as long as it is fully functional, much better off than a new one that is fake!

Having a support for "bluetooth"(tansmission in radio spectrum) means it could connect wirelessly with other bluetooth enabled device with the range of 10 meters at ideal conditions.

MMS means that you could send(provider service, should be configured & activated)sound & pictures to other MMS enabled phones but of course with size limitation.

Polyphonic means that the tones can be multiple unlike, mono like the very first released of Nokia phones in olden days "dit dit dit":smileywink:

Vibrator is standard to all Nokia phones, if ringing is muted, still one can know if someone send a message or call.

MP3 - you can play music file in mp3 format

**Note
Make sure what you bought is not a locked phone( you can only use a sim card by the provider who locked it). Unlike an open one, wgere you have the liberty of choosing any available provider.

Re: Nokia6320

Hello Android . Many thanks for the quick reply to my posting. I will be getting a Sim Card today from Telstra as the phone is locked in . It does not really concern me who the phone is tied in to as I can perhaps get an Open phone later if I am not happy at all all with Telstra. . I shall be going into the various features that you describe and hopefull that I will pick up a bit more info from the Telstra shop today.
I will enquire about the Bluetooth feature. It would be great to communicate between the shed and the house with a range of 10 metres . Many thanks once again Joe

Re: Nokia6320

Hi all Well I got the simscard fitted at the Telstra shop etc and handed over $25.00 for 6 mths prepaid. Made a mistake there as regrds the option I took as would have liked the 1 cent per message usingTexts so I can try and keep up with all the Grandkids.
Tht does noit matter so much though. as it will now cost me so I beleive a mere 25 cents to do the same thing.
I had a bit of a fiddle with the 6320 and have tried to use it once to call a courier. .My message got thru to him but his reply was very badly breaking up and I dont know as yet if this was his fault or a fault with my Nokia. . The battery seems to charge up well and was showing as fully charged.
After ending the useless attempt at conversing .I ended the call and put hte phone down .a few seconds later it vibrated madly and it was the courier calling me back.. The message from him came thru well so I suppose I will have to make a few calls with the Nokia 6320 and see if it works satisfactorily .
Cheers for now I will look in again soon Regards wotsgoingon

Re: Nokia6230

Hi all I se no one is talking to me again so here I go myself . I have tried to Google for a manual for the 6230 model and have found the Nokia page with reference to this phone but the pics Nokia site displays are of a different phone . I am calling my phone a 6230 model as tat is what is was listed on Ebay as being . . I have tried the Contact Us button on the Nokia Supprt site and only got as far as the Get to Australia in the Asia- Pacific region abd the thing will not go on any further.
Can any one tell me how to go about sending a pic of my phone to Nokia to ask them just which model it is before I get Googling for a manual for it Many thanks

Re: Nokia6230

Hi wotsgoingonnow

Please note the following :

1) Please do not give out personal contact details on this website - this is for your own safety and security.
2) In order to find out what model number your phone is there are a couple of methods which might help - firstly visit www.nokia.com, and then select your country, and choose Phones - look through the list of phones and choose the one that looks like yours.

The other method which may work is if you enter *#06# into your keypad it should come back up with some data - depending on what phone you have it MAY come back with the phone model type.

Lastly a failsafe method is to open your phone and it'll tell you below the battery.

A 6230 will look like this :

http://www.nokia.co.uk/6230

Don't worry too much about the colours as on some of the phones, the fascias can be changed. Also please note that for all Nokia phones you will be able to find the most recent copy of most software and ALL manuals on the Nokia website available for download - e.g. you can find the manual here :

http://nds1.nokia.com/phones/files/guides/Nokia_6230_UG_en.pdf

Page 20 of the guide above has a diagram to show you how to remove the battery from your phone if indeed it is the 6230.

Please do NOT post your IMEI number on this site.

Thanks and hope this helps.

Edward

Re: Nokia6230

Hello Edawardguan Thank you very much for the very concise reply youe sent me . I have noted your remarks about giving out personal detail about myself. etc .
Now I have a confession to make. I bought this phone off Ebay and it was described asa 6230. I visited the site you mentioned to see if I could match up my phone and the pic that I got up up was not like my phone.
Somewhere else in the info it said to remove the case off the phone and remove the battery and the model no is printed in there.. BUT alas and alack it did not say how to remve the cover.
So yesterday I took the phone in to the Telstra shop where I had the simcard fitted and the sweet young thing pulled of the case and showed me the Model no which now turns out to be a 3315. . She told it was that model just by glancing at it. but as I wanted to see how the case was removed I got her to do that. .
So now I will go to the Nokia site again and have look for a 3315 and carry on from there/
It was very good of you to take the trouble to spell it all out for me. You indeed a Guru . If I can ever elp you with a lawn mower problem please do not hesitate to ask Thanks a lot Joe

Re: Nokia6230

Hi - No problem - thanks for the compliments !

IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity and is basically the serial number for your phone.

You can get this number on a Nokia by type *#0000# into your phone's keypad

Oh my friend - wait until you have a look at what Nokia's latest phone the N96 which is due out in Q3 of this year has :

1) 5Mp camera
2) GPS
3) Digital TV

among a host of other functions :smileyhappy:

You can find more information about it here :

http://www.nseries.com/index.html?l=products,n96#l=products,n96

Your idea however is a good one, stick with the phone that you have now for a few months until you get used to it, and then move onwards and upwards.

There's a whole world waiting for you out there young man - go out and grab it :smileyhappy:
