Hi there,

I just started having problems with my Music Library - I was using Music Manager up until last week when I transferred songs and the Refresh Music Library stalled and never updated.

Since then I haven't been able to update successfully, either the phone will stall upon updating the music library and never complete, or sometimes my playlists completely disappear and I have to turn the phone on and off to get it back. I started transferring files using Mass Storage and verifying songs are in the Digital Sounds folder. They are there but will not update on my phone - your help is much appreciated!

ok try;

- doing firmware update
- create MyMusic folder in ur memory card and transfer all the songs into that folder and do a Refresh of ur music player.
- hard reset.

i'm getting the same problem. I updated my Nokia N73's firmware to latest (V 4.0839.42.2.1). I also did 'master reset' & formated my memory card. but it still doesn't refresh music library. What can i do?? why Nokia is silent? I can't listen to music now on the go ...

The same happens to me, well, the same happens to EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!

I dont know your case, but this was my first nokia and i was illusionated with it, but will be the last, next time i'll buy a sony ericsson, they treat much better theirs customers; and this in in my country is called FRAUD.

If i buy something with a features and updates and the company changes/dont work that features by software is fraud:

I DONT HAVE THE DEVICE /SERVICE/ PRODUCT THAT I BOUGHT. I HAVE OTHER ONE THAT I DIDNT AGREE TO PAY FOR.

 Where is my music player? I bought a device with music player! And it is not working from last update!

Little and creepy solution for you :

Lets say now we all just have a third world country mp3 device in ours n73; so ,

1. Go to the computer and open Pc Suite and then the music manager.

2. Search and select the music you´d want to play. Tranfer it ifis not on the phone/ memory card.

3. MAKE A PLAYLIST WITH ALL OF THEM.

4. Transfer it to the phone and reload music library.

5. Songs will not appear but inside playlists there will be the palylist you created with the songs inside.   MAGIC!

SECOND and better SOLUTION

If your device is under warranty, go to a nokia repair point :

you want a new "exactly the same device" that you have (n73), yours doesnt work well. If the law of your country allows you to choose: you always want a new device in exchange of the "no working music library phone", no a repair.

If cannot choose, demand an alternative phone for free while you wait they repair your " no working music library phone". It is THEIR fault that they made a phone that is not working, and it has consumed a time that they didnt pay you. GIVE YOU A REPLACEMENT PHONE WHILE YOU WAIT IS THE LEAST THEY MAY DO. If it was your work phone OR laws in your country allows you, consider a lawsuit for damages and prejudices.

 Repeat again and again until have a full working n73.

Im sure that if we all do this, we´ll have operatives n73 sooner that waiting nokia to hear forumcomplainings about how bad is making the last update to our devices. If all this tons of nokias are not working because a manufacturer mistake (call me distrustful, but i dont believe it, i really believe is a last software fault as we all are experienced), i dont know how the hell they are still runing a brand.

I will send mine next week to repair. I´ll tell you if it is something new; but for me the case is clear: i´ll run to national customers service to give information about this.

Hi every1.

It seems every1 is having similar problems with their Nokia phones. I have been having the same trouble with the Music Library on my N73 & some more. I used to be a big fan of nokia butmy faith has been significantly eroded.

I used to own an N80 & I had no significant problems with it. But My N73 has quite few. Like the others in this post my Music Library wont refresh & add the tracks which are already loaded onto the memory card (2GB sandisk), even though I am able to play the tracks individually through the Gallery.It wasnt always like this---Initially it worked fine for a number of months, but then for no reason at all, only some of the tracks would be added to Music Library while the others wouldnt; so I followed some of the suggestions on the forums including the ones listed on this thread. None of them worked. After the latest firmware update & hard reset Music Library is unable to add a single file from the memory card. I have formatted the memory card numerous times.

Not only is the Music Library unable to add tracks but  if I attempt to do s, it starts to malfunction- the buttons & menus disappear, & it becomes unresponsive. In such cases I have to restart the phone

I am sick & tired of this, I had purchased the phone so that I could enjoy its features & now its more of a pain. I cant even replace the phone coz I have purchased it in a different country, & I dont want to take it to the Nokia repair store coz they will only do the same things that Ive already tried & will keep the phone for ages. Doesnt any1 from Nokia visit these forums. There r so many complaints & all related to the same function, one would expect they would take notice address customer grieviances. Is there any1 on these forums who has a solution. It would be greatly appreciated.

I experienced  the same problems the library and found a solution but it doesnt last much longer than 2 months.

Uninstall all the nokia stuff in your computer.

Restart computer

Or Download the pc suite cleaner and run it. http://europe.nokia.com/A41198596

Download a new pc suite exe and run it. The same with complements.

Install again the software in your phone.

Format the card 

When i made this, it was impossible to play the songs that were originally in the card, if you want the same music you had before, you have to pass them again through the music manager, specially if you have converted them.

This works if you have problems with the music player: it doesnt start or buttons are blank. If the problem with reloading the llibrary starts, you can try it but most of the times will not work.

P.S.: If you bought the phone in a diferent country but you have the bill, you have nokia warranty (2 years) but you have to go to nokia care point or center, just directly to nokia. Perhaps the language in the phone can change but just that.

hey, i managed to solve the problem on my phone.

the refreshing problem started after i converted a bunch of the songs on my mem card to .m4a format. i guess some songs got corrupted due to this. once i identified those files and deleted them all (there were just 4) the refresh worked again! and i could add more songs to the library!

to find the corrupted files u gotta open each of them using th file manager. if its corrupted ur phone should get kinda hung for a while (press th red button n try opening file manager again, give it a couple of mins..)

once all corrupted files are gone, the refresh should work..

its really sucks... by the way, everything won't work for this chase. it a bugs from new nokia n73 me sofware update. if you reset to original phone setting, format your phone n memory card, hard reset or using pc suite its was useless. once you update your software its getting worse, you must waiting from nokia of next software update. the bugs is:

- you cannot refresh your music library, it will take a long....long time till you dead. its library only can detect from phone memory, of course with just 38MB maximum capacity injected. or you must make a playlist file first in phone memory.

- your camera's quality became so ugly.

- there's so many application you do not need but its installed.

- theres many application installed that required internet connection to use it.

-some video's file can't be played, identifyed corrupted or else. but its okay in pc or other phone.

-some third application stop working. the registry is missing or still inside but can't be deleted untill hard reset taken.

i've been take a long research of this software updates. and that's problem only resolve by reset to software before you update it. or stay with it and waiting for next software updates from nokia. how embrassing for such big developer.
