The solution for your requirement would be a bluetooth head set or receiver... Most of Nokia's models have the feature (bluetooth stereo A2DP) which can transmit good stereo audio. All you need is a bluetooth head set which supports A2DP or a A2DP receiver to which you can plug the head set you all ready have.

I have a Nokia Mural phone but the the problems I'm having are the same. None of the 3 others I bought have worked, including a true Nokia adaptor.
Here is the reason, up on close examination I noticed the third party adaptor has the same 3 rings (stereo and voice) but the rings on the original adaptor are positioned ever so slightly different than the third party adaptors. So, I'm stuck with having to listen to my music with the original **bleep** headset.
Probably, that part was sub-contracted to China and the contractor took some liberties with the position of the contact points. Same is probably true for mini USB adaptors, etc. etc.

AFAIK the best option would be to use a bluetooth stereo headset. It has its own power so no worries.
