Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

Hello All..

Done hard reset, formatted SD card..did wat not :smileysad:

this is the prob with my phone :

I have a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic handset running on the firmware v30.0.011 and I have around 2 GB of music in the phone at the moment. Since yesterday, I am experiencing a problem with the Music Player in my phone.

When I go to Music Player -> All Songs option, a pop-up appears at the bottom of the screen with the word "Opening ..." on it and we can see the first few songs in the phone displayed in a sort of grayed-out manner in the background at that moment. These would typically be arranged in alphabetical order, so I am seeing music starting with the alphabet 'A' on this briefly displayed list.

However, the issue is that once the "Opening" pop-up disappears and the entire list should now be supposedly shown, I can only see songs which are starting with the alphabet 'S' ... going all the way to 'Z'. I cannot see the upper half of my song collection !!!

Now to make things worse, if I go ahead and double click on the first song displayed now on my screen, the music player plays the REAL first song on my list.

AND THE BEST PART IS I AM GETTING THE SYSTEM ERROR AS NOT ABLE TO DELETE AND ANOTHER ERROR IS LIBRARY NOT REFRESHING... HOW MUCH EVER I DO " 0 FILES ADDED"

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

Hi.

I have deleted all songs for a particular artist. Now when I open the library the artist is still listed, when I try to delete it it says "File is corrupted. Operation is cancelled". Any suggestions to fix this?

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

Hi,

I have this same problem and it's driving me mad.  I have tried to delete my music via the Nokia Ovi Player.  All the music is still on my phone but some of the files are corrupted as described by Jino.  Now when I connect to the Nokia Ovi Player is says that there is no music on my phone, even though there is.

Appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Jo

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

Hi Everyone..

I have just encountered a strange and annoying problem with the music player on the nokia 5800. I recently put a tonne of new songs on my phone, using the 'mass storage' option. After I was done, i went into music player, refreshed the library, and all the songs were there. The problem though, was that I could not listen to any of them. Everytime I went to a song, a message came up saying 'error'. Then I tried playing a song that had been on there for ages, and IT DIDN'T WORK! In the end, no song would play. So I decided to restart my phone. After this, I went back into music player, and a message came up straight away saying, "searching for music and podcasts". It was like the music player had reset itself or something. It eventually found all the songs and they all played, but I had to rename some songs and artist information that were wrong. All the playlists that I had created in the past had been deleted which really **bleep** me off!!

Does anyone have any idea as to what would cause a bizzare problem like this? I have had it up to here with the 5800! it is just problem after bloody problem! Bloody Nokia!!!

Thanks for all your help..

Music Library Refresh Problem

The Music Library just doesnt refresh. The Songs are visible and play individually in the Filemanager but do not get added in the Music Library. When i select the refresh library option in the Music Player it just shows a processing dialog with message "Refreshing 0 file(s) added", nothing happens no matter how long you wait.

Solution

- Open Windows Explorer
- Opened E:\Private folder
- Opened 101ffca9 Folder
- Deleted harvesterdb.dat file
- Disconnect phone from PC
- Turn device OFF then ON back again
- Refresh the music library
- Songs were added successfully

Podcast Library Refresh - General Error

1. Connect your 5800 to you PC in Mass Storage Mode OR connect the microSD to your PC via a Memory card reader.

2. Open Windows Explorer and browse to your memory card drive ..

- To remove and start fresh start go to E:\Private\10281e17 There you should see 4 files 2 are Mp3 files other are Podcast files. Delete the whole 10281e17 folder, its not harm since our device will automatically create a new structure of the folder.

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

Didn't work for me, XPLOIT, deleted the files and let it refresh overnight, still no good.

Tried a different 2GB SD card which worked, so figured something is wrong with the 8GB card and decided to format it, but I decided to backup the content first. When I copied the full content from E: to PC it denied to copy the private folder. After copying subfolder by subfolder of E:\private I found a corruption in folder E:\private\101281e17. So I formatted the card and noticed that this folder and the folder 101ffca9 was recreated by the phone. I then copied everything on top from PC to memory card and now  the music player works (for now). Will check in the next days if all my other stuff still works, but so far so good.

Hope that helps everyone, perhaps the file corruption of system files caused the erratic behaviour.

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

I have had a similar problem with transfering music from PC to phone and yet when I refresh the library, nothing gets added.

I tried to delete E:\Private, but this does not exist, and yes I have show hidden files activated.

Does any one know how to solve in this situation?

I know I can reformat the SD but this is I think a last resort.

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

Hey guys,

for those of you who have the problem that after deleting a track the artist, genre, etc info still appears, here's a link to the solution. It's somewhere in the middle of the page listed under
"5. Remove Deleted Artists from Music Library Fix."

I had this annoying problem myself and finally got all of the old info removed.

for those having problems deleting songs on your memory card, follow these instructions:

1) Connect your 5800 to your computer using the USB cable. Choose PC Suite.

2) Run Nokia Ovi Suite on your PC.

3) Click Tools --> Backup. Follow the onscreen instructions. (This may take a while)

4) After the backup process, disconnect your phone from your PC.

5) On your 5800, go to Applications --> File Manager ---> E: Memory card

6) Click Options ---> Memory Card Options -----> Format

7) Wait for the Format process to finish.

8) Connect your 5800 to your computer using the USB cable. Choose PC Suite.

9) Run Nokia Ovi Suite on your PC.

10) Click Tools --> Restore. Follow the onscreen instructions. (This may take a while)

11) After the restore process, disconnect your phone from your PC.

12) Go to your Music Library. Click Options -----> Refresh Library.

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

Actually, an easier way than posted above (and you would not lose apps), is to simply delete the Sounds Folder. And the Attachments folder (all files received through bluetooth and saved go here.

All songs would then be deleted from the card.

If you find my post helpful please click the green star on the left under the avatar. Thanks.

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

connect 5800 to your pc via mass storage

search for mpxv file in memory card

on finding it will be like " [101fc31]mpxv2_2 " (as in my case)

delete this

and you r done !

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

i have a perfect solution, did it on my 5800. You connect your phone to pc as mass storage, go to my computer, right click om your drive, e.g E: then properties, select scan for errora, check both options and start, after that, your music will just work ok
