Nokia 5800 music player problem

I recently bought 5800 xm and it is great, but it has a problem with the music player. Every time I delete an album from the memory card, the songs are deleted, but the information about the album stays on the music player as if I never deleted it from the memory. It really annoys me. So to sum up it recognize the added files when I update the music library but it wont recognize the deleted files and file them as removed. Can someone help?

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

Same problem here. First I delete the files in Nokia Music, then manually in explorer (otherwise the files are still there taking up space - I was wondering why I ran out of space so fast :smileytongue:) and finally I have to remove the track info manually from within the phone. Annoying.

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

Well, I just highlighted the album and chose delete in the options menu. Should work on a track-by-track basis too, but that'd be a lot more work...

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

Hey

After deleting the music file you should refresh the music library. you can do it by going to the music library(on the music player) and options and select refresh library. That should solve it.

Hope this helps.

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

I appreciate your help, but when I follow your instructions and select refresh library, the details remain. In other words the refresh does not work.

I am having the same problem as zepete  - When I try to delete individual files, the bar indicates that it is deleting, but the names and titles stay there.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

Sorry, now i get it.

The only way to remove details about artists, album etc from the phone seems to be by manually removing it.

As others have said:

1. Highlight the artist, album or song and choose delete in the options menu. (thanks teishi)

2. After this deleting process, refresh the music library. You can do it by going to the music library(on the music player) and ptions and select refresh library. (thanks shehanliyanage)

(This does not help when receiving the general system error though)

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

Yup, I also cannot fix this problem still. It's like this, I deleted the files, so they are no longer in my phone memory, but the refresh library option doesn't find them removed so the names of the albums stay on the phone even though I cannot play any of them and when I try to delet them again the message says that the data is damaged or something like that. So nothing works perhaps someone heard of a patch or some sort of fix for the music player? If so post it please because this is really starting to tick me off. I hope you brainiacs can figure this out :smileyhappy:

Cheers

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

I had the same problem and deleting the files didn't work for me too... The solution i found was to backup the memory card contents i needed( images, photos, music and videos) and formatted the memory card through the file manager... Then i transferred back my data...My phone is fine now....

I think this is good advice. When I had a similar problem with podcasting I ended up taking my phone to a Nokia care centre and the my memory card was diagnosed as faulty and was replaced. This solved the problem for me.

Maybe refomatting the memory card would also work.

In case someone else is having the same problem, can somebody give instructions on how to reformat the memory card:confused:and how to transfer the data). I know this may be obvious to some people.

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

I recently bought 5800 myself and I'm having the same problem as all of you but I think that the only solution is by sending your audio files using bluetooth. I tried a lot of ways including soft reset, hard reset, formatting the memory card and a lot of other stuff but the only way which seems to be giving me good results is by using the bluetooth but its only drawback is that it takes a loooooong time if you want to send a lot of audio files. Try it and tell me how it works out :smileyhappy:

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

Hey guys,

I was wondering if you could help me with this problem. My nokia 5800 xm is working fine, but I have one annoying problem with the music player. I put music onto my phone, and for a while the songs play perfectly, and I can listen to all my music. Then at the most random times, I go to play a song, it attempts to open it and can't. It then goes to the next song in that album, attempts to open it, and can't. Eventually it can't open the entire album!! This is very annoying.

Can someone please help me? I just don't know what to do anymore.

Thankyou.

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

I got the same problem as shooterfinn's, I got about 4 gigs of music downloaded from Nokia Music Store into the SD card and while the songs are playing, it randomly stops at a random position of the song, sometimes it skips to the next one but most of the times it just stops playing at all. Although it feels like the file is corrupted sometimes I am able to go back to the same file that caused it to stop and fully play it again which proves that the file is not corrupted. I tried to conect the SD card to my computer through the phone using USB cable and got it formatted and ran Windows checkdisk on it just to check its integrity and nothing wrong was caught, then after that I formatted the card again using the phone software and after I copied the files back to the memory card, the music player kept randomly stopping playing so my efforts were in vain :-(

Please anyone, let me know if there is any solution for this, thanks.

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

Hi

I have managed to fix my problem, just by using the Nokia OVI suite software that was supplied with the phone. However, the problem hasn't COMPLETELY been solved! Everything has been fine, I have been listening to music with no troubles. The other day, I put an album on my phone using the OVI suite as usual, and everything was normal. I listened to the album with no problems. Now today, I have gone to listen to the same album again on the phone, and for some reason, a message pops up saying the files are corrupt, for every track on the album. Can someone please explain this to me! Why is this happening all of a sudden?? God it is so annoying, there is always one little problem!!

Thanks guys,

shooterfinn

Re: Nokia 5800 music player problem

Try to format your memory card through your phone. Perform a hard reset. Here's how to do it..

1. Backup info. like your contacts, call log, installed apps, etc.

2. Turn off your phone.

3. Keeping the Red button, Green button, and the camera button pressed simultaneously, Restart the phone, keeping the above mentioned keys and the power key pressed until the Nokia Holding hands screen appears.

4. Now you'll need to supply the necessary data like you did when you first started up your phone. Your problem should be fixed.

Hope this helps...
