N95 Music transfer problem

I'm trying to transfer music files from my pc to my N95 phone using the Nokia PC Suite.  However, after being able to download 24 songs the rest are being saved in my ringtones file.  I'm not sure how this happened and why.  I checked my memory card storage and I have more than enough room to save more songs on my card, its not even half full.  Is there something that I have to change in the settings?  Is anyone else experiencing the same problems that I am having?  Please let me know how to correct this, it is getting very frustrating to figure out.

Re: N95 Music transfer problem

I prefer to drag and drop mp3 files via data transfer/mass storage mode.

Give that way a try.

Re: N95 Music transfer problem

Thanks for the reply.  I'm a newbie so I'm still learning all the features and functions of my phone.  Could you tell me step by step how to drag drop files like how you suggested?

Thanks a bunch!

Re: N95 Music transfer problem

Okay so it looks like I have another problem.... I took grayburn's advice and tried to do the transfer/mass storage mode on my own and some how instead of downloading files into my music player, I some how lost all the songs that I had before and when I go to music player and click on options I am unable to scroll through the menu.  I wonder if it is because there are no songs showing up?  I tried doing the transfer/mass storage mode again and figured out that the files are being saved in my file manager but when I play songs from there it plays one song and then stops it doesn't go to the next song I have to manually go back in and select the next song to play.  This is very frustrating when you're trying to work out and have to continously stop to change to the next song.  I also found out that when I try to download songs into the file 'sound clips' and the under 'digital' that is actually the file for ringtones.  Can someone please help me to figure out in which file should I be saving my music to so that I can see it in music player and what is the best mode to do the transfer and if I should be taking more of a serious look at the scrolling issue in music player as well.

Re: N95 Music transfer problem

Hi Grace,

It took me awhile to figure out, but I did. When you disconnect your USB cable before it has had a chance to finish downloading files it will erase any songs that you had in your music player, so make sure you STOP any transfers BEFORE you unplug your USB cable.

To add songs into your music player using mass storage see below:

  • Link your phone and your computer using the USB cable
  • On your phone select mass storage
  • On your computer go to explorer and select the F:// drive (that's your phone)
  • Open the folder 'sounds'
  • Open the folder 'simple' -- this is the folder you drag and drop your songs into

FYI the 'digital' folder under 'sounds' is for ringtones

Now this is an important step, while your phone and computer are still connected go into your music player a message will appear 'USB connection in progress' depending on the amount of songs you have just downloaded it shouldn't take very long for the music to be transferred to your phone.  It won't automatically stop so when you think enough time has passed STOP the transfer by exiting out of music player and then unplug your USB cable from your phone. A message will appear saying 'data may be lossed..." just press okay.  Since you stopped the transfer before unplugging you cable it should be fine. Then go back in to music player and a message will appear asking to refresh select yes and your done.

This should solve your problem and if it does I would appreciate a kudos.

Happy listening...

Re: N95 Music transfer problem

Hi there,

I'm glad to hear that it worked for you!

When you go into music player and go into "All Songs" it doesn't show you how many songs you have but how long the playing time is for all songs combined.

When you download songs the way that I showed you, if you try to transfer the same song again, a message should appear letting you know the song is already on file.

Re: N95 Music transfer problem

I'm not an adavance user of my phone yet.  Try resetting your phone if that does not work I would bring it back to the store you bought it from and have them check out your phone.  You may have a bigger problem then just your music player.

I hope everything works out.
