How does the N8 pick up cover art for the mp3s?
I have a library of full albums in tradition folder structers with complete id tags and cover art fetched online through Amarok. When I copy the albums over, most of them show up with no cover art. Only the random few will have it. I am trying to figure out why so I can make them all work the way it prefers.
Any info would be great! Thanks ![]()

Good question. Mine got totally messed up after I imported from iTunes. I couldn't find any way to remove them all and I tried everything but they re-appeared. It seems they get associated in a user file database, but even if I deleted that they re-appeared. I had to start from scratch from my old iPod because I couldn't get rid of them short of clicking everything and clicking remove. Even now, many albums have one song that didn't get associated. Ovi Player and Ovi Suite just plain suck.

the cover art must be set as "front" (if i remember right) in the metadata
mp3tag is a good free program for editing the metadata and will show you which "type" the cover art is (and let you change of course)

I thought it was supposed to recognize jpeg files (put in the same folder as the album) as album cover art ? Guess not

Having same issue on E71 or N97 mini.
iTunes does store the album-art in a separate area, not as tag in the mp3-files.
Nokia displays the album-art only if they are stored as tag.
I also did use mp3tag to play around... but what i am missing is a simple tool, which converts the iTunes-data (mp3-music and album-art) into standard mp3-files including the album-art. It is unbelievable, but i can not find anything.
So... i just copy my mp3-files to the nokia, and unfortunately almost no file has album-art included.

The Nokia music app in OVI suite can be used to embed the album art,
apparently wmp can as well tho I've never tried it

But you have to do that manually?

On the OVI Player, you can get alot of tracks in batch with some having to be done manualy
not sure about wmp

WMP may start searching on it's own in the internet..... with the typical issues, that some will not be found, some will not be correct.....
The trick is that i have already all covers..., no need to review them all again. But unfortunately no real link or import from iTunes....

I managed to figure it all out ![]()
I used Amarok to fetch all the cover art and place the images in the folders of the album and then used Kid3 to embed the art into the mp3's. I transfer the songs through the file manager (dolphin)
woohooh pretty pictures!

Thank you for the discussion and the suggestions. Very useful indeed. I used mp3tag to correct the tag data, i.e. past album cover art as front cover, and the ovi player to delete the old mp3 files on the phone and re-transfer the correct files. I got the album covers via google!

Can someone please give me the manual idiot guide please? Do I need to rename the file [front] or something? Please help.

Same problem - no cover art.
All music ripped from CDs originally
Music on N900 has the album art (MP3s).
Direct copy to N8 didn't work (in mass storage).
Using WMP from the WMAs on my HDD (and N8 in Media transfer mode) - didn't work.
Tried the the tagging programmes didn't seem to work either - I'm probably using them incorrectly.
