Hi all,
I have an N79 handset and I'm thinking of upgrading it to N86.
The problem is that some people say that the nokia n86 sound is way low (I'm not sure about that) but I didn't reach a comparison between the N79 sound loudness and the N86 sound loudness.
Can someone tell me which handset has a better sound quality and loudness??
I need a reaaaaaaaaaally quick reply.
Thanks in advance.

Well I can tell you a lot of phones having better quality, but the n86 has decent quality in my books. Its the loudspeaker of the n86 where the volume is low. Apart from that its very good.

So, is the volume in n86 even lower than the n79 and the n82?
I don't need louder than that (like the 5800).

I wanna know about the call quality.
I read in some forums that the call quality is horrible as well as the music player loudness ![]()
But I still want to know which handset has a higher volume: N86 or N79

I checked this review before, but I couldn't understand the values mentioned about the sound quality and noise level. Does that mean it's louder or less loud than the other mentioned devices?
Could you please provide some explanation to this?
Sorry for tiring you.

In the speakerphone test, on page 4 of the review, the higher the value the louder it is. And as said, the speakers are pretty average.
As for plain calls using earpiece, they said that reception was good but of course good reception is dependent upon your network. Any interference on the network part of the equation and you get bad calls.
For audio quality, GSMArena also has a lengthy article regarding how to interpret those numbers.

Read that.

And what about the microphone quality in calls?

What do you mean mic quality? How you would sound on the other side of the line? That's also network dependent. Even if I tell you that its good, or bad, how can I be sure that its not my network's fault? Basically the microphone quality in calls would be the same as the mic quality when recording audio, it uses the same hardware. The transmission signals through the network and the receiving end would determine whether it is still good when it reaches the destination.

I'm not sure I do, you speak into the microphone and not listen to it so what about loudness?
Oh wait, as I said, the microphone quality may be measured by the same quality it has when recording audio. Apart from stating that I cannot help you anymore since I do not have an n86. Try to get your hands on one for testing. Some stores do offer test units.

Thanks a lot man ![]()
Testing the handset at stores is a good idea......I didn't know about it.
I hope I can find these stores ![]()

I think the sound quality of n79 is better than N86 (Thru Headphones), But get used to some short cracking sound while listening to your favorite music.
