Hi, I have an 8gb card on my 5310 and couldn't play any DRM'd music after I upgraded the firmware to V 09.42 from 8.32. Neither could I transfer and music to the phone, as the music store software complained that the 5310 was not the registered device, it displayed a licence error message and then suggested buying the music. When I attempted to play DRM music on the phone it put out a message saying receiving access key but the music still failed to play. I then found this thread and reformatted the card as suggested and this worked. I did take a backup and restore before/after the firmware upgrade but this didn't prevent this issue.

I had this problem. I had already backed up my device before I did the firmware upgrade.
I then reformatted the hard drive and restored the factory settings.
I then restored my backup.
That has fixed my problem.
To restore facoty settings type *#7780#.
Then enter the code 12345.

I have never use Music store before. I registered to the site with my E71 (hey, how many logins use need in the nokia mobile world, Ovi, music store, discussions, Nokia Forum - all require separate account!).
It was not too great experience. The first song that I tried, this week's free song, did not start loading, but ended in error claiming the memory card (where I haven't had any troubles ever). Second try told that I have already purchased the song, and I needed to surf along the site to locate and download it.
Now I am stuck with error saying that license is invalid, and trying to get it over the air does not work. It also ends in an error, saying unable to get the license. Is there any other way than formatting the 8G card, full of my movies and music, and files, which I would not like to copy back and forth...? And yes, I have updated the phone firmware just recently.
You really need to an engineer to use the phone, and these "services".
Second thing I do not understand is that I can use music store over the web, using my phone, but the same is not possible with PC, but I should install one more piece of additional software.

Seems like there is some progress. Now the over the air license check gives me a web page to login with my account; however after a successfull loginit claims I have no rights for the song, and I could buy it again...
Even if I do so, I get an error, unable to acquire license....

I have the same problem with licenses and cannot seem to find a way to get it resolved. It would be nice if someone from Nokia would step in and say what the problem is etc.
Will try and read through whatever people have done and see if I can figure it out. This is not an area that I am familiar and to be honest would expect Nokia to resolve the issue. It may be that
they need to be persuaded that they cannot sell products that do not work and ignore their responsibility.
Have any of you tried to find out how to contact OVI Music ? I would not mind if I could send and wait for an email etc. Its like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Hi,
you could try the following, but be careful not to loose any data.
To me it looked like formatting the memory card in Nokia phone resolved the issue. Of course you loose ALL data in the card, so try it with preferably a spare memory card, or backup your existing card, format it, and give a try before restoring.
If it works restore the backup, but don't overwrite the new files/folders. I have no info, which ones are meaningful, and it might be that some default settings are set back to default values. It would be nice to get info from Nokia which files/folders contain the correct data...
