Can't transfer music to 5800 from Vista

I have been having problems with Ovi Player for a while now. I am running Vista Home Premium and have a Nokia 5800.

Last week I found that I could not transfer music to my phone using ovi player. When I connected my phone in media transfer mode both Vista and Oviplayer displayed the memory as full. The phone itself displayed 2GB free space remaining.

I removed all of my music and other non-essential files from the phone after which Vista, Oviplayer and the phone itself began to agree on how much free space was available (5.4GB).

I began transferring music (all albums purchased from the Ovi Music store) but every so often an album would fail to transfer and the memory would show as 0 GB free at the PC end again. Deleting the most recently transferred album would solve this but the problem would repeat a few albums later. Now I have 35 albums on the phone and both the phone and the PC agree that there are 3GB of free space remaining but all further attempts to transfer music are failing. Every track gives the same error report, "there was a problem transferring this item."

I have tried restarting my PC, switching my phone on and off and ensuring that both Ovi Player and the phone software is up to date..

I would appreciate some help.

Cheers,
