nokkika,
With the help of your scripts for TeraTerm I finally manage to install Garmin Mobile for PC.
Works like a charm. I'm filming some videos and writing a review about the product and off-course I will mention your help.
Thank you very much.

Thank you. I know that everyone is using Teraterm, since I first mentioned the use of it, and it has macro capability...but just want to add that I used it since it is a free terminal program but others are freely available - it is a shame that Hyperterminal was removed in Windows Vista and Windows 7 - if you have an existing machine running Windows XP, you can always grab it from there ( you just need two files, hypertrm.dll and hypertrm.exe.)

Hi,
I downloaded TeraTerm Pro 2.3 and when trying to start a anew connection, I can not select serial comm port 5; I made sure that the widget of Ovi Maps was not loaded and even uninstalled it from the widget list and reboot; still no luck. Your thoughts please. I have also ProComm Plus 5 installed, would that help too?
I would like to get the GPS working so that i can use it with Streets and Trips; do you think the Garmin PC Nav is a better option??
Thanks,
Keoni.

All,
I solved my own problem, but always good to know that we have a community willing to help each other out. Note that because I solved my own problem it had a lot to do with the great guidance of this site and peers and my personal troubleshoot memory of something I had to mess with a long time ago with my bluetooth modem.
My fix:
1. When opening tera term pro 2.3 I could not select my GPS CONTROL INTERFACE (com5). After searching, changing and eventually uninstalling OVI thinking it locked my com5, it dawned on me, I can change the port of this! CONTROL PANEL > DEVICE MANAGER > PORTS > right click GPS CONTROL INTERFACE (COM5) and select properties > port settings tab > advance > com port number (i changed mine to the first available within the first 4 ports, in my case i chose 2)
2. Started Tera Term Pro 2.3 and select serial connection on COM2
3. Edit > setup > check 'Local Echo' (not needed but if you want to see what you type)
4. type AT_OGPS=2
5. hit enter, you should see a response of "OK"
6. File > Disconnect (or just close Tera Term Pro 2.3)
7. Change back the GPS CONTROL INTERFACE to the original COM, usually back to COM5
8. Close control panel and all other.
9. Open Tera Term, new connection, serial COM4 and you should see information scrolling, that tells you that it is enabled and feeding data.
Instructions are a little long but tried to be thorough.
Good Luck,
Keoni.

I also get invalid host.
Using Tera Term Pro 2.3
Any advice?

I don't know why you receive that message. Anyway... invalid host? Are you selecting serial communication? I mean the TeraTerm can be use for TCPIP too and the word HOST is use in TCPIP world not in the serial comm one.
Related to the GPS program it self, any one of your choice will be OK. I used Garmin's because is the one I had in my tabletpc and I love it, but this is a matter of choice, peak up the want you want.
Could you make a screenshot of the configuration screen of TeraTerm where you select COM5 and such... you can post it here as an attachment.

I should have been more clear, I get an invalid host when trying to use the macro script for Tera Term Pro 2.3.
I even added the command to omit telnet but still get invalid host when excuting.

I'm sorry man but I don't understand when you got the problem so I can't help you.
Let's see. Try this. Forget about the script (or macro) and run manually the TeraTerm against the COM5 port manually issuing the commands you will find in the macron one by one.
My guess is that you cannot connect COM5. Is that right? So is not a problem issuing command is a problem just connecting the port. Right?

Also check in Device Manager under COM ports to make sure that your GPS ports are the same as for most users. If you have made any changes or even updated drivers, it may have switched the COM ports from COM4 and COM5.

It's also possible that other 3G software is blocking the ports. Make sure you are not running Option Globetrotter software or AT&T Manager.

I moved it to COM2 and edited the script to C=2 but still not working, no matter, I'll just have to manually do the command everytime i boot or when I want it enabled.
None the less, it works, just not the macro.

Hi,
I tried to connect to the GPS Control Interface (not the Globtrotter Control Interface) and it gives me a message that it "cannot open COM4". Enabled the log file but there wasn't any entries.
Tried change the GPS control interface to another COM port but it still gives the same error.
Using gpsVP shows that the connection is "Disabled" and the Internet is "Idle".
Any more suggestions on what else can be tried?

Redleaf

See if you have selected "Serial" instead of TCP/IP.
