Hi!
Anyone been able to enable this in Windows 7's sensor settings?

"Nokia Booklet 3G comes with the new Genuine Windows 7 Starter or Home Premium
operating system. This Windows run mini laptop has a built-in A-GPS
function that allows it to use Windows Sensor and Location Platform to be aware of its location."
GPS works in Ovi and Google but not in other GPS applications (connecting to COM4, GPS Data Interface).
I'd like to have my location in Windows 7 to change automatically as I travel.
Have a good one!

I've been playing around a bit with this. As far as I can tell the Windows Sensor and Location Platform is all down to Drivers, and as usual it seems Nokia have omitted to include drivers to add the Location Sensor, or Option simply havent developed them yet for the GPS/3G modem.
I have managed to get this far though - if you go here: http://www.turboirc.com/gps7/ then you can download a generice Virtual Driver for Sensor API that will read the COM Port that is emitting NMEA data (in our case COM4, providing you have activated the GPS). Once installed, it show up in Locations and Sensors in Control Panel, and you should now be able to use any apps that use the Sensor API - you can also try his little App , called TurboGPS, a nice little window on your desktop, that can show Compass, Satellites in View, Map, Speedo etc...give it a try

However, can't access the GPS Data Interface.
The GPS gets a location in Ovi and Google but when I try to configure the NMEA GPS Port in GPS Sensor 7, I get an error message: "Cannot open this COM port."
I am running GPS Sensor 7 as an Administrator and confirmed that GlobeTrotter MO40x - GPS Data Interface is running on COM4. The driver version is 5.1.33.0.
I can connect to the Control Interface (COM5) with TeraTerm but I can't connect to COM4.
Is it possible that COM4 is locked somehow?
Have a good one!

No, COM4 is not locked, except when the **bleep** Ovi Maps Gadget is running!!!
Close the Ovi Map Gadget on the desktop, make sure Google Maps is not running, and no other GPS software is running.
Then open TeraTerm on COM5 and turn off the GPS (AT_OGPS=0).
Run the Driver exe (gps7s32.exe), set GPS Port as COM4, Baud Rate = 4800,Click on Install, confirm you want to add the Sensor, then leave this Window Open.
Open Teraterm on COM5 and turn the GPS back on (AT_OGPS=2)
Switch back to the Driver Window that you left open, and you should now see NMEA data spewing out, and eventually a Fix. The API Sensor is now active.
If you want to test it out on the Turbo GPS app, then install it, open it up, Go to Tools, GPS, GPS Setup, tick the API Sensor (no need to change COM ports or baud rate here cos the API Sensor has taken over), then click on Tools, GPS, Connect and it should Connect and give you fix data etc.
Next big question, is whether we can now use multiple GPS apps with it. Seems to work with the Turbo GPS on, and also Google Maps, but Ovi Maps gadget seems to screw it up.

GREAT! Thanks!!
And on what page in the user manual did it say that the Ovi Maps Gadget can't run with other applications...
Sensor enabled!!!

They say nothing about other applications.
You have Ovi gadget, for what reason you'd need more? ![]()
And if you need more, you should be smart enough to find out why Ovi Maps gadget works (good software) and your other apps don't (bad software).
Hope Nokia will treat us better with their next Booklet-3.

Maybe a problem with your Permissions on Windows 7. I have User Account Control turned off, and it is fine if you follow all the instructions.
To turn User Account Control Off, go to Control Panel, User Accounts and Family Safety, User Accounts and click on Change User Account settings, then move the slider down to never notify.

I have mover the slider bar but still nothing. I have F- secure software could this be affecting ??

Well, for me, I downloaded and executed "gps7s32.exe", A Window comes up with buttons to Install, Uninstall, Update Check etc......then I click on Install, and after a while, a Driver warning Window comes up which I accept, then after a long while another Window comes up asking you to enable the Sensor. Click enable Sensor, and then start the GPS with Teraterm
You must have your GPS off first, maybe that is the problem! Also, is your 3G locked? Mine is all unlocked, so may be different.

Thank You very mach indeed. It was very simple advice but very helpful.
I have got guide in my language but I didn't find information about dependence between GPS and 3G.
