I ordered a Booklet 3G which should be here in 2 days. I intend to format the HD and install Win 7 Professional to get a clean system without all the added bloat. Can anyone here point me to the support site where the booklets software is listed (bios, drivers etc)?
I only found the "Nokia Booklet 3G software updater" (not yet available). Will this be everything they offer?

Because the Booklet comes only with Win 7 Starter. I really like the hardware of the device but not the Nokia Ovi Software. I'm at Gmail and absolutely not interested in Ovi.
I canceled my order yesterday but O2 is playing dead. They didn't confirm my cancelation or react in any way. This morning I received the shipping confirmation with tracking number and all that. I sent another cancelation but again no reaction. Tomorrow the postman will bring it and I now have to decide whether I accept it or not.
I'm very unsure whether the Atom Z530 coupled with 1GB of DDR2 RAM (slow 533 Mhz) and a slow 120 GB (4200 rpm) HD is enough to power Win 7. I want this as a mobile Skype machine and for office and surfing. The webcam is a 1.3 mpx but is the hardware fast enough to support this resolution?

I got it now. Beautiful device. It's so light that even the aluminium body doesn't appear metallic. Probably the most well built electronic device I ever owned. Speed is absolutely okay - much better than I expected. It came with no Nokia Software except the Booklet updater and special drivers for the flight mode menu, sound volume etc.
I already formated and partitioned the HD and installed Win7 Pro.
Now where are the drivers? I can't turn off Wlan, 3G and BT selectively as it was possible with the flight menu before.

Have you checked the device manager as to what specific drivers are missing?
Try to run Windows Update, some drivers are available available there.

Thanks for the heads up, Rycheman. Finally I have the great flight menu and other on-screen-display features back. I noticed that there are two important drivers missing. One is the Option driver for the 3G/GPS module. I know that it is downloadable from option.com but the latest driver there is version 5.1.32.0. The Booklet came with version 5.1.33.0 which is a tad newer. The second important thing missing is the CSR Bluetooth stack wich adds A2DP functionality and probably some other stuff as well.
To people reading this and wondering whether the Booklet is right for them, I can tell that it is one awesome machine! The keyboard is not cramped at all, as some shallow 5 minute "hands-on"-reviews claimed. Size was easy to get used to for me (handshoe size 10 - XL), pressure point is exactly right. Allows very fluent, gliding typing - and I have typed a lot (!) on it. The system speed is absolutely okay as well.
After using it several hours a day for almost two weeks now I think this is the "best" computer I ever had. Much more fun and versatility than a regular laptop.

I'm loving myBooklet 3G, although it's a little slower than I hoped for.
But where is the Social Hub (fn+F11) - this is supposed to be a bvig selling point for it.
Any ideas?

Where exactly did you find the drivers? I've searched and searched. I found some on the european site, but the drivers for the 3G modem aren't listed. I also can't get the flight mode dashboard to appear (the F10 key works to turn Bluetooth, WiFi and 3G but all at once, not one at a time)
A link would be fantastic.

The 3G module driver isn't there yet. You have to download it at http://www.option.com/en/support/software-download
If you don't see the flight menu dashboard, you probably don't havr the hotkey utility installed. You can download it where the other drivers are.
What's really missing is at the download site is the CSR Bluetooth stack.

there is no blote in the booklet when you get it other then the f-secure software.
it comes completely un-subsidized by other software vendors and has no "junk" that needs to be cleaned.
all you have to do is update it /upgrade it through the service to professional as i did and you will have saved a bunch of time and headache.
please be sure to let us know of your drivers finds for anyone else that trys the same.
hopefully you will still have the great features that were integrated on this version, ie-tap to wake, power button features and fn+fkeys

Excellent! Thanks so much, the drivers for the 3G worked perfect. I do have the drivers for the hotkeys installed, but still no HUD display giving me the option to turn off Bluetooth/Wifi/3G separate from each other. There was a note on the european site that the hotkey app should be installed before all of the others (of course I read that after I installed the other drivers ![]()
Hate to start fresh, but I think I may have to unless someone from Nokia is lurking here (is it just me, or does Nokia not understand the importance of drivers/support when it comes to computers? I am shocked at the lack of drivers/support so far for this lil guy. I know it's early, but damn, this would never happen with one of the "real" computer manufacturers.

When you reformatted - did you also repartition it? Did you lose the hidden partition that has the recovery (for factory) image?
My Best Buy unit did not have any bloatware at all...just F-Secure which I have activated. Nokia treated this Booklet just like their phones....clean and unbranded from any carrier.
Here is what I had that was "bloat" - but not really:
It didn't come with the **bleep** that Dell or even worse HP puts on their machines.
Such a clean junk-free machine. I also WAU'd to Win 7 Pro after purchasing my upgrade key from the Microsoft Ultimate Steal promotion (Win 7 Pro for $29.99 - legit if you have a .edu address).
Happy booking. BTW, all the Mac guys on my Web Marketing team thought there was a new Mac Book out there...too funny.

I hope you are luckier than me and don't need aftersales. The booklet I bought from Nokia had some poorly fitting trim and mechanical damage - Nokia's aftersales support is appalling. Each time you file a complaint online you get an email saying reply in 48 hours, but then nothing. Finally after 3 months I contacted customer support and told them I reject the item and they will have to pick it up. All I got back was a blank email with the heading "CLOSING".
