why will my Nokia 6100 not connect to GPRS or MMS

Much to my distress my N96 finally gave up. Until I can get another device at the end of July as my contract renews I am stuck with a 6100. No I don't expect much from it but the ability to send and revive MMS and make the most of the limited WAP would be nice I spoke to my network, T Mobile UK and as they have never offered the handset to customers they are un able to send me a configuration message with the settings. I have searched the web and found several sites offering settings, as they are all 90% the same im guessing its either my handset or some sort of network connection. Can any one point me in the right direction until I can get a new handset? PLEASE... im used to E Mail in my pocket and now I can not even get MMS!!!
