Re: my n73 music edition phone

Well, there's one thing i've noticed.. avoid retreiving bluetooth objects like images and especially audio files when u use "phone memory" for messaging.
The objects get saved in d phone memory itself when u retrieve such things under "phone mem in use".. Because, wen u open d retrieved audio file, it asks u if u want to save d file, during which, if u press "yes, save" it saves a double copy in d phone memory itself.. wastin double d amount of space.. one copy stored in d messaging folder, and another in the "attachment" folder within d system.
Duno if we shud call this a bug, but avoiding doing so definitely helped ..
So, if u want to get something via Bluetooth in future, change d "memory in use" to "miniSD mem card" prior itself.

Re: my n73 music edition phone

And one more thing that happened to me.. it said "mem low" during which i checked d memory statistics..
and it said only 53KB was free on the phone memory..
And all i had on d phone memory was around 600 SMSes in d inbox..
This shows dat d N73 uses a really bad method o storing SMSes, i cud easily story 1000+ SMSes on my old 6600 , barely using only 1MB!
Hope it gets corrected in d next FW upgrade, along wid d memory and camera issues!

Re: my n73 music edition phone

Have u ever checked your mem usage using file manager like X-Plore. in my N73, sometimes drive c is consumed by lifeblog's database (C:\Lifeblog\Database\lifeblog.db) and if that happened, system will alert low mem condition. My trick to prevent this is by putting mp3 file in C (around MBs). coz sometime when that alert comes up, we're unable to open any application (especially the lifeblog). so, if that happened, just delete the mp3, and we will able to open any application. then go to lifeblog, and try to manual clean up (but i'm not so sure, i'm also afraid if lifeblog will also delete actual items instead of in lifeblog database itself), so i never do this, but i will go to settings > item types > and uncheck unecessary items (in my phone, multimedia msgs is the only checked), save and close. if it doesnt help, try to check, save, and close, and uncheck, save, and close. sometimes it works for me, and lifeblog database will shrunk again to around 700kB.
another extreme way, is by killing lifeblog process, and delete the database file (but i'm not sure its safe hehehe, its only my concept), or soft reset.

have you ever calculate your sms actual size? let say, 1 sms is around 400 bytes, and the cluster of filesystem in phone memory is 4096. that means 1 one sms file will be saved into 1 cluster (because its not exceed 4096 bytes). so, if you have 1000 sms, size is around 400 KB, but size on disk is actually 4 MB.

Re: my n73 music edition phone

hmm...if you asking for official smilies from nokia, i dont know whether they will provide it for s60 3rd (unlike s40 i think). alternatively, check out for an app called SMS20 (hope its right).

Re: my n73 music edition phone

hmm..i see.unlike me, seldom to delete msgs in my phone. especially if it comes from a girl i adore, i always store it in my SD card till almost 2000 sms', in my previous 6600,it's able to save till 3500 before the phone going to hang almost the time.

Re: my n73 music edition phone

yep,its too bad isnt it?we cant save all msgs which we think its important for us. sometime i'm wondering, if nokia will re-structure the msgs database and the way to store, and load it to memory (somehow i hate to see hex-suffixed-folders/files. eg. xxxxx0,xxxx1,xxxx...,xxxxF ). though, binary files will make the file size smaller, but however it depends on cluster size, why should we waste (3500 kB on cluster 4096 kB), why dont they make it just as formatted text file (like .vmg), the size is not much different (but it can make use the wasted 3500 kB) and it will also make us easily to backup.

wondering Nokia will do this...

Re: my n73 music edition phone

hey i got the same problem from 16.2.2k11 to 17.2.2k11 then i decided to remove the antiviruses installed to my phone. now i am having 24MB free memory. check and ensure whether you have installed some antiviruses to your phone. if it is means better remove it. our phones are made with symbian platform basis no need for a antivirus softwares.
