Re: invalid password on the e51

Did you fix this problem? I have an E71, and it is doing exactly the same thing.  I have tried a factory reset, upgraded the phone software, but still the same.

Re: invalid password on the e51

this maybe an old post but ive been having the same problem with my e51 for a while now and touch wood i think i know what the problem is and have sorted it out and the last 24 hours the error message hasn't appeared once!

I stand to be corrected on this by the nokia gurus and it may not be the same problem for each case but for me it was something to do with the defined access points for my wifi.

It has been bugging me for a while and rendered the phone basically usable but annoying, i tried the usual stuff backing up and updating the firware, the reseting everything with not much luck, untill i sat there last night and the very annoying warning beep went off and i just though it sounds like the warning sound you get when your wifi disconects itself or you go out of range.

so i though ill delete all reference on the phone to my access points and previously used wifi routers and re-connect them from scratch and see what happens and VOILA no more annoying message or beeping.

i hope this helps anybody in the same situation because i know how annoying this is

Re: invalid password on the e51

I'll go along with that - I have just started receiving the message after I was trying to set up my WIFI with my E71 (unsuccessfully!) last night.

Re: invalid password on the e51

I recently found the cause of this on my E71.  It seems to have two parts to the problem.  Firstly I noticed that when I used my WiFi connections it was intermittant, but when I used my GPRS connection it would do it more often.  But  also found that when I tried browsing with GPRS, my Internet connection would occasionally ask for a password also, even when just looking at google or something.

I contacted my service provider, and they said they had intermittant reports from other saying they had the same problem, but it was not tied to any particular model of phone. But they said to try 3G instead of GPRS, and it was better in browsing, but still the annoyance in MFE, but less frequently.

I finally solved the 3G and Wifi problem with MFE by setting the connection to use a Secure Connection, this seems to have resolved it.  I haven't had the username or pasword message for about two weeks.

Re: invalid password on the e51

I experienced the same problem with my N97 and I find out that the problem is caused by MfE. Because your exchange server requires a change of password once in a while, we tend to forget the same on our mobiles. So, the error message is to tell you that your profile in MfE has the wrong password credentials.

Hope this helps

Re: invalid password on the e51

The MfE client password does not update automatically when your Windows password is changed. This error message will also be displayed if you put in the wrong password during the initial device client setup.

Re: invalid password on the e51

my error message seems to come and go intermittently. I am certain this is a server side hiccup rather than anything at fault with the Nokia software; its quite rare so i can live with that

Re: invalid password on the e51

I first started getting this error when I hard reset my N97.

I had MFE setup to sync my google calandar with my phone, and when I hard reset the phone it appears that all the mfe settings remained the same except the password was deleted.

Once I put the password back in... FIXED!

Re: invalid password on the e51

Around August 2010, Google in the UK offered to change your email from "something@googlemail.com" to "something@gmail.com" I accepted this for a shorter email address. This is why I received the above cryptic error message from my E71. Mail for Exchange(MFE) is the program that shows the error. I had to change my email address in settings route given in the error message to my new Google email address so my calendar could sync. My MFE program was in: press HOME button on E71 then click on the INSTALLATIONS folder and you will find MFE in there. Then follow the directory route give in the error message. profile>credentials>password Of course for my issue I only had to change my email and not the access password. Hope that helps anyone that had the issue :smileyhappy: r

Re: invalid password on the e51

Don't know if anyone is still looking at this but here's my pennyworth just in case:
One day I decided to change my password on my gmail account on my PC. Forgot of course that my E90 was trying to sync using the old password! Simply went into the mailforexchange application on my E90 and changed the password to the same one as on my gmail PC account. Everything now works! And no annoying invalid password message!
