gmail on nokia N86

Hi, I have a new Nokia N86 and I have used the email wizzard to setup gmail.

When I open gmail from the home screen or from "applications / email" it asks me to connect to internet. This is fine. But when it has connected and downloaded any updates, it no longer disconnects. It used to connect, update email and then disconnect.  Now it just stays connected which is costly if you are connecting via the normal network.

There are no settings to change this.  How can I set it so it disconnects after downloading email updates as it should?

kind regards

Re: gmail on nokia N86

Hi gphilp,

By design, the Nokia Messaging application always leaves the data connection open when push functionality is enabled within the client.  However, when push is disabled, the client will open the data connection, perform a synchronization and then close the data connection after the sync completes.  This push setting is located within When to sync within the Nokia Messaging client.  Do you currently have the push functionality enabled?

Thanks,

Jeremiah

Re: gmail on nokia N86

Hi, in the email settings I have the following:

When to sync:

  Connection days>  All days

  Connection hours> All hours

  Update interval> 12 hours

Retrieve when abroad> Only in home network

So what should I change?

kind regards

Gregor

Re: gmail on nokia N86

Too easy just pick a time and day when you want to check your mail mainly a time so you are not online 24/7
