Hello...
I received a voice message from one of my friends and i opened the Inbox but the phone was saying (memory full, close some application and try again) and hang...
I switched the device off and after few seconds on again but there was no network & battery signals at all. After that I switched off again and I removed the battery and put it back again and the phone started OK but the problem was (more than 3000 messages in my inbox and other personal folders disappeared!!!! I tried to switch it back off and on again but the messages are GONE) for your information (I’m not using memory card and i was using the MASS MEMORY & the strange thing (all the contacts saved in the phone are still there) ONLY the messages have been gone and I don't know where...
Please help me,
Is there any way to recover them and bring them back or they are permanently deleted from the phone? And how are they got deleted...
Please please please help me. I have very important messages with them...
I’m waiting for your help & advice...

Hi
I have exactly the same problem with my N97. it happened 3 times now. I switch the phone off, wait and then switch on
again, if it starts up funny in any way, then i know it still doesnt see the messages. then i start up again, then it starts up correctly, my messages are there again. I only have a few messages in inbox, nothing in any other message folder, and still it says memory full. I'm sure it is a software problem which Nokia must look at.
If anyone knows more, please let me know too. It is horrible not to be able to open messages, especially if you have important messages.
Thanks.

When my N97 switch off because I ran out of battery, or restarts by itself, or memory full message indicated, when I power on the phone device again, all of my messages and folders disappear and indicated "No Messages"!! Even if I switch my storage from C: to E: which I normally use to store my message, still the same situation "No Messages"!!
I restore from good back up but I started losing important messages in between. Worse case, when this started a couple of weeks ago, my last backup was one month old. So I lost message since then.
My be there something to do with memory reorganizor software that has been updated recently.
Any idea? This is really frustrating!!

Have you tried to change memory in use for messages? I have noticed, when you connect the phone in mass storage mode, all mass storage related apps and tasks are shutting down, and memory for messages is changing to phone. Change it back to mass memory and you will get all your messages back.

Today, I lost all message again!! Last time my message storage was set to F: so in case anything happens then I can switch the storage F: and see my message. But when I switch to F: I could not see my messages. I am losing my history communication with others and no solution!! I will stop using N97.

This seems to be a common issue with the S60 mobile operating system. No comment from Nokia regarding a resolution so far.
My E75 phone has also experienced the disappearing-messages-act saved in my SD card when my phone restarted from a low battery shut down. Inbox/Draft/Sent Items were completely wiped out.
I tried to change the SMS location from SD Card to Phone Memory then back to SD Card again.
I also tried to (safely & properly) remove the SD Card then reinserted it back. Still no go.
The worst part is that I spent 3 days searching the Internet and found that it's not rare for this problem to occur on an S60 platform yet no resolution from the web nor does Nokia offer any solution to it's customers.
They're about to lose a 12 year loyal and solid Nokia Fan (along with his friends and relatives to migrate to the Blackberry & iPhone Bandwagon) soon if they can't help us retrieve the important messages that was wiped out from our inbox. <sigh>..

I had earlier faced this problem with my E63 quite a few times which was caused when I connected the phone in Mass Transfer mode.
Recently I bought N97 mini but I faced this problem today here too. Though it does not use a memory card but uses the Mass Memory of the phone.
It is a really annoying problem. Its strange that there is no solution to it. Should get into a habit to backup the phone every weekend. ![]()
