Last week Hotmail stopped syncing. I recovered this by manually checking all passwords etc, all were correct but it seemed to force the correction anyway. Today, both gmail and hotmail have stopped working. Have checked all settings and reinstalled NM yet still no sync!?
Any ideas!?

I hope Nokia solves this problem soon. I have 1,000 messages as part of my deal. And I am furious cause I have tried all the possible solutions, which cost me so much time. I have backed up the phone, then installed updater, updated software, restored the phone to factory setting but nothing seems to be working.
I will consider a different handset for my next contract - this is a massive let down by Nokia.
I have also contacted the Nokia customer support line on a number of occasions but to no avail. I spent hours waiting listening to pre-recorded message asking me to use online help.
I am hugely disappointed by my whole experience.

This happens every three months or so with the Nokia Email software. It's a beta product outside of beta status. Connection issues damper what is otherwise a beautiful and functional email software. A shame...

Same problem! I have a gmail account.
Have you solved it?

This is simply unbelieveable. I have no words left to describe my utmost disgust with Nokia E-mail, Nokia E71 and all things Nokia.
Since we all agree the built-in Nokia e-mail application is a piece of **bleep**, I started using Nokia E-mail (Messaging). Two days ago I stopped receiving e-mails (again!!!), and spent countless hours trying to fix it (the "countless hours" include a complete waste of time in contacting Nokia Canada in search for help - like the rest of Nokia, including Nokia web site, they are useless). I NEED MY E-MAIL, I'm willing to pay for it if I can't have it for free, I just need a reliable and fast e-mail to connect me with my business while I'm on the road (which I am 90% of my time).
I removed Messaging from my phone, and now I'm unable to reinstall. When prompted for password, I entered my e-mail server password, and got rejected. I tried Nokia E-mail password, rejected. Tried my webmail password, nothing. I either get "server not found. please check the name of server and try again" or "password cannot be verified", or "log in failed. please try again later". "Frustrating" doesn't even start to describe it... Now I can't even get Messaging back on my phone. As I write this, the phone is verifying my password for the last 20 minutes!!
In closing, I want to say that I pity everyone who choses Nokia, as this company has shown to me the total lack of professionalism, customer orientation and, I'm affraid, basic technical knowledge. Copying USA cell phone technology was easy, making their own is somewhat more difficult, and for the poor Finns - impossible. I'm stuck with this piece of s**t Nokia E71 for the next 2 years, but my revenge will be in spreading the word around that buying Nokia is the worst thing one can do. There are much better and more reliable phones in One-Dollar-Stores around North America.

WHO WANTS TO BET NOKIA STAFF USES BLACKBERRIES? They must be able to communicate via e-mail somehow, and since Nokia doesn't have a reliable push mail client...
This is pathetic.

Messaging has randomly stopped working for me time and time again. I was really excited to get my e71, loved using it at first, but the more and more this so called "messaging device" fails to come through on one of its main advertised purpose. I have got it working in the past by cancelling my account and then signing up again, but this doesn't seem to be working this time. I have been a die hard Nokia fan and have recommended Nokia phones to everyone I knew looking for phones in the past, but seeing as how Nokia Messaging is a complete failure in my opinion, I am thinking of bailing on this sinking ship.
(I have now been unable to sync for 5 days.)

I'm in exactly the same boat.
My E71 with Nokia messaging has been working quite well, however stopped 3 days ago... I've only managed to get it going again about 4hrs ago.
Talk about frustrating. It's annoying having to continutely login to webmail to check the emails considering the push email client is sitting there.
I'm also having an issue with the fact that sometimes it connects to the Nokia email server, however still says I have no new emails, yet if I load my inbox in Outlook I have 6-12 of them (all unread).
Certainly very poor form by Nokia. My Dad has an iPhone that's setup for the Push Email with his Exchange server, he never has a problem with recieving his email timely & the integrated client supports IMAP out of the box.
Why I didn't just buy one of those to start with I'm not sure! - But I'm certainly regretting it now.
I'd even be happy to pay for a subscription to this service if it means my emails push through normally and perfectly (as they generally do most of the time).
