Here's the latest news from the Nokia Messaging team:
--------------------------------------------------
Nokia Messaging 1.1 became available on April 1st, 2009. Please go to http://email.nokia.com to download the latest
version.
Here are the highlights of this release:
• The 1.1 release of
Nokia Messaging is localized in 22 languages and certified for 21 S60
devices
• Support for Windows Live Hotmail Addresses
• Support for
HTML-formatted emails
• Support for hosted email accounts from Yahoo!, Gmail
and Microsoft
• Support for up to 10 IMAP subfolders (selectable on
email.nokia.com)
• Advanced Email Settings entry on
email.nokia.com
Some general tips:
If you're having trouble
logging in, remember that your Nokia Messaging username and password are the
same as the email address and email address password that you used to sign up
for Nokia Messaging with.
You can add any Windows Live Hotmail address
to your Nokia Messaging account on the phone or on email.nokia.com. Nokia
Messaging supports hosted domain email from Microsoft, Yahoo and Google (also
known as vanity domains).
In order to sync your IMAP subfolders, Log into
your account on email.nokia.com, and select the Edit settings link next to an
email address for which you would like to sync additional folders.
You
will receive an email from Nokia Messaging indicating your can update your phone
to the latest version. This email is going out to all users in the next week, so
if you update before then you don’t need to update again.
Depending on
the model and/or firmware version of your Nokia device, you may have Nokia
Messaging preloaded on your device. If you are in a country where Nokia
Messaging is available, the E-Mail setup application on your phone will setup
your email address within Nokia Messaging. As an alternative, you can sign up
for Nokia Messaging at email.nokia.com.
Check the "sync while roaming"
setting if you are experiencing connection problems.
Nokia Messaging
handles rich formatted text and lighter HTML-formatted emails very well. Within
some larger messages, you may notice some irregular scrolling and selecting
behavior.
You can now edit your email settings: while signing up for a
Nokia Messaging account, you are now able to include the outgoing mail server as
part of advanced settings. Users with a Nokia Messaging account are now able to
edit their email server settings from the My Account page. This will be helpful
if you are experiencing difficulty sending or receiving emails, or feel like
your email provider settings were not discovered correctly.

I think the software is excellent although I have just started using it as hotmail is now pop3 supported. The only problem I have is that it doesn't allow me to specifically decide when to check for emails.
Surely nobody checks emails in 2 week periods, every week or every 2 days.
I think it should be every day, 12 hrs then down to hours, 30 mins and 15 mins or it should be user decided ie. every 2 mins or 161 minutes or whatever best suits our needs. I have my profimail program check every 15 and it works fine!!
I have also noticed that checking every hour doesn't necessarily mean I get new mail as I often go in and manually check and always seem to find mail.
What does soonest do? I have set it up on soonest and never get any mail I thought it would be on all the time. Do you have to connect then do soonest to get emails pushed?

Hi All!
Laurence 101- Soonest means you should recieve emails almost immediately. I have my setting to soonest and I normally receive emails on my phone before I receive them on my computer.
Aman (pr1asd)- Sometimes I have the same problem. It seems to be a problem with the 'Nokia Messaging' server I am guesssing because it does come good after an hour or so each time. I have had the problem two or three times in about 4 or 5 months. I know there have been a few issues with the messaging service and Nokia are obviously working on improving the service, for the most part I find it very good.

Thanks, Gav23. Unfortunatley, I have tried several times at random times of the day for the last 4 days or so.I can access the emails from the account through the messaging program (the one that controls text messages as well) but still unable to add it to Nokia Messaging..
Thank you again.

Hi all, got a quick question for all you fellow NM users. Have you found since upgrading that you no longer can send a picture by email direct from Gallery? It used to be an option when you click the little Envelope icon that you get send "via multimedia", "via bluetooth", "via Email" and "Post to Web". I now only get the the other three options....
If I compose a new email and can remember the file name I can add it then and send, but its a bit of a pain trying to remember which one is which.....
Any thoughts greatfully received ![]()
Thanks G

ghilliedhu,
I have not had that problem. Are you running the 300.# firmware? There are a number of issues relating to that firmware as a result I chose not to upgrade. Not sure if there is a fix for that one.

I have the same problem on my N95 8G (31.0.015 firmware). When I try to configure Nokia Messaging it creates a nes mailbox in the built-in e-mail client.
When I starts nokia messaging nothing happens...
Any idea?

I´m very glad to see the actual release of Nokia Messaging, but as soon as I´ve installed in my E71 device I were very sad to see that nothing changed on sync intervals. I didn´t understand why nokia messaging has intervals like "2 Month", I´m not quite sure who sync his emails every 2 months´?????
1 hour is too long, and push email needs to much energy, additional for some account push didn´t work. Hoepfully the developer could change the intervals at least to 15 minute too!!!
It would be very easy to change for development and a big help I think for many users!!!

Updating earlier post regarding [Compose email--Memory full!] warning on E71, I solved this problem by deleting all the shipped applications that were in Installations folder in phone memory that I don't use: a couple of games, Nokia printing, etc. Also deleted Worldmate. I left only Google Maps, Mail for Exchange, and Nokia Messaging. That solved the problem and the application works well now. It is stable. HTML is excellent. There is no conflict with running Mail for Exchange at the same time, although I think the sync schedules bump into each other occasionally. Remaining problems: application response is slow when opening emails or selecting "display images." Major problem is a hang when trying to view attachments (e.g., 250k .pdf file). These could be conflicts with Exchange; not sure. My guess is the E71 CPU and RAM are not quite up to the tasks that Messaging wants it to perform.
When is the US launch? People who travel will need this to work in all major markets.

Hey Andrew, thanks for the tip. Deleting the account on email.nokia.com, removing the app. & reinstalling did the trick!
No built-in email client anymore... Thank you.
