N82 "Not enough memory ro receive message(s) Delete some data first"

Hi,

Lately i've been getting the error mesage and am not able to send or receive any sms

"

Not enough memory ro receive message(s) Delete some data first"

I've deleted my whole inbox outbox, sent items etc. I've even deleted all the SIM contacts, messages etc by inserting the SIM in another phone.

I've also restored to factory settings. But still the same error occurs.

If i create a sms it sits in the OUTBOX with status as "Resend at hh:mm". And after sometime it says. "Message sent failed" and status in outbox becomes "Failed"

When i go to Tools - File Manager - Options - Memory Details

17   MB Memory in Use

115 MB Free Memory

5 kB Calender

107 kB Contacts

35 kB Messages

0 B Inages

...

..

619 B Documents

I've even restarted the phone a number of times. Nothing seems to help. I've also deactivated the LifBlog application as it keeps track of everything.(Silly application)

I keep getting the flash message box in my status bar....and the error message pops up every now and then.

Please help me. I would be very thankful. Guide me please.

Re: N82 "Not enough memory ro receive message(s) Delete some data first"

  • Specs of the N82
  • Up to 100MB internal dynamic memory* for messages, ringing tones, images, video clips, calendar notes, to-do list and applications
  • Hot swappable microSD memory card slot

*Dynamic memory means that the available memory is shared between dynamic memory functions. When any of these functions is used, there is less available memory for other functions which are also dependent on dynamic memory.

Find out whitch apps are running that use a lot of memory.

Re: N82 "Not enough memory ro receive message(s) Delete some data first"

Hi,

Thanks a lot for the reply.

But i've already checked which all applications are running & the result is none.

We can easily check this  & none of the applications are running.

Re: N82 "Not enough memory ro receive message(s) Delete some data first"

Maybe some corrupt files are there in C:drive. As you have done every other things to check whether any applications are running or not, now i would recommend you to perform this-

Also you can format your card if this doesn't work. And then again do the same thing.

Before perfoming this please take a backup of your data.

Factory defaults-
Type *#7780# on your standby screen.
This will reset all your setting to default factory settings. User data wont be affected.

Soft reset-
Type *#7370#
This will reset the phone as well delete user data. Use when want to format the phone.

If none of these worked then you might want to do a hard reset.
For this you have to-
1. Switch off the phone.

2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.( Just in case of N78 it will be the multimedia key the small silver key on right side & for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up. For Nokia N97 is SHIFT /SPACE BAR / BACKSPACE. )
3. While holding these buttons, hold the power button to switch on the phone.

4. Release the buttons when the phone shows the nokia hands logo or shows other signs of life like the language selection screen.

That's weird, Factory settings reset is not supposed to delete anything from your phone.

Are your contacts stored on your phone or your sim?

Re: N82 "Not enough memory ro receive message(s) Delete some data first"

I found the answer which is not very destructive. In the E71do the following:

Menu | Communications | Messaging | SIM Messages.

Delete them all or at least a few.

This fixes the problem. I did not know there were such things as SIM messages.
