If you cannot login to your Nokia Messaging account, please try these steps:
1. Go to email.nokia.com and try to log in - your username and password are the same credentials as the email address you signed up for nokia messaging with, so try your email password.
2. If that doesn't work, click on "forgot password" and follow those steps.
3. If that still doesn't work, contact Nokia Care in your country who can reset your password as well.
4. If you're on these forums and looking for a faster recourse, we're going to do account resets for this problem.
If you cannot log into your nokia messaging account and steps 1-3 don't work, please send a private message to 'messaginghelp' on this support forum (the next poster on here), with your email address as the subject line and no other text in the message. We will clear out those accounts so you can go back to email.nokia.com and sign up fresh, which will resolve your problem.
Again, this is only for people who cannot complete the three steps, the vast majority of our users should be able to log in without incident.

For me those steps did not work, however what has worked partially was to click "sign up" and create a new account. I was able to do this using my existing email address.
However, from the phone I can still not add a mailbox. "Connection to server failed". This is for a Hotmail account, in case that matters.

It works. now. I was able to re-add my email accounts.
Thanks very much.

I'm not sure if this is correct, but I found that for my xxx@gmail account, I just can't get the email setup completed until I changed my gmail password to one that does not contain any punctuation characters. Perhaps it this is correct, you could let others know what are the permissible characters.
Btw, I noticed my account reset, many thanks.

Hi Nokia,
It is great when you proactively go out with information like this. It significantly reduces uncertainty and frustration among us users. If we know there is something wrong and that you are working on it, it is easier to lay back, have a cold one and think about the summer.

Totally agreeWe won't wreck our brains trying to figure out something we cannot fix.

Hi Nokia
I've been having problems with the Nokia messaging service for a the past week or so, but hope this sorts it out - I've PM'd my email username in the subject heading to "messaginghelp" as resetting my password didn't really acheive much. The service wouldn't let me log in from my phone, irrespective of which password was used (the original or reset one)! It just kept prompting for a password.
On the whole, it has been mostly working great though, so thanks for that ![]()

One point of clarification, then a question:
The password that is needed is the one for your Nokia Messaging online account, which in my case is different than the password for the email account(s) that I access with Nokia Messaging(Email) on my E71x.
In my fumbling attempts to solve this problem before finding this solution, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Nokia Messaging more than once. In the process I ended up with addtional mailboxes for one of the two accounts I use Nokia Messaging for -- in the phone's messaging folder. (As opposed to the mailboxes with GUI interface that I access by opening Nokia Messaging (red @ symbol icon.) How can I get rid of the extra mailboxes and the blank (some marked with a ?) mailboxes in the messaging folder? Thank you.

Well, no thanks to Nokia I got it working. Did a reset to factory settings and downloaded updated phone software. Then set up e-mail accounts successfully by ensuring I did not use Nokia Messaging service. It now works OK.
Very disappointed in Nokia Messaging which is completely useless if you rely on mobile email. Very disappointed in Nokia customer service who have completely ignored my requests for help. Spoke to a girl who said they had had no problems like this before! I suggested she might like to look at the comments in this and other forums. I got the distinct impression Nokia are trying hard to cover their rear end having launched a product which is not fit for purpose.

Just want to share a little thing.
I emailed Nokia Care too regarding the Nokia Messaging problems. It took them 1 day to respond, but they failed to address my problem with Nokia Messaging accounts. I replied the email, and did not hear from them again for a week. It sounds strange, but I'm impressed that they actually did reply again 1 week later, including to apologize for the lateness of their follow-up. I responded to thank them for their response and informed that my Nokia Messaging account problems had been resolved by a Nokia staff in these discussion forums.
The next day, they followed up with a long distance phone call (as seen from my caller-id). Either they were not clear about my latest email reply, or perhaps there was some miscommunication between various Nokia departments attempting to handle my problem. Nevertheless, I am impressed that they are actually trying to provide customer support like they are supposed to do.
I know, my expectations are too low, to be happy only just because they attempted to help after a week. But after reading so much about how hopeless their customer support is from these forums, this one actually turned out to be positive.
