I have the same problem - periodically.
I am using E75 for over one month and at the beginning N. Messaging worked perfectly with my gmail account. After couple of days I just stopped receiving any information about new messages - the old were still visible, the green ring showed that application is syncornizing with email account, but in fact no new email was visible (and on the email account there were for sure new messages).
After another couple of days I again stared to receive new messages - for another couple of days and then again - no messages.
Unfortunatelly such periods of correct working of application and then not working happen periodically without any regularity. At the beginning I thought that maybe Nokia is shuting down its servers for weekends as usually such non working periods happen on weekends, but actually it stops working even in the middle of the working week.
I tried to connect through different connections (WiFi in several locations and regular HSDPA connection through my provider) but there are no problems with connections (I always verify possibility of connection by Gmail mobile app and Internet browser) only Nokia Messaging seems to be down.
Actually I am quite disappointed with the situation as I thought that if I buy commercial subscription with my phone I will geta reliable application/service. At this moment I cannot rely on it.
BTW: It is quite frustrating that I cannot get the real technical support from Nokia for commercial subscription.
If you have any idea how to solve this problem - please let me know.

The problem seemed to resolve itself late last night, as I now see messages in my Gmail inbox--but only my Gmail inbox. I have another inbox through Google Apps that is actually operated on Gmail's platform only with a custom domain. That inbox isn't showing any emails at all, just like the issue I was having with my original Gmail account.
IIf I hear of a fix for this issue, I will post it here, but I fully expect to hear it here if there is one. I'll call Nokia Support at some point, but I also expect you've probably tried that. Oh well, still worth a shot.

I have had exactly the same issue. Last night about tea time it stopped working, then resolved itself at some point over the night to early on this morning. Then its been off again up until about lunchtime.
Now it appears to be off again.

I'm pretty sure that it has nothing to do with connection between E75 and network (in my case). I always check other apps that connect to Internet, and in such cases only Nokia Messaging has mail download/push problems. I would say that my NM app is connected to its nokia server (in my case it is netac5.vie.hosting.nokia.com) as the sync ring is green (if there is problem with connection I get "disconnected" message and red ring).
In my opinion there must be some kind of problem on NM server or connection between Nokia servers and gmail.
I don't see any other rational explanation.
Maybe it is a problem of too heavy trafic on this particular server but if I try to switch to another server by manually typing it e.g. netac2.vie.hosting.nokia.com, netac3.vie.hosting.nokia.com, ...,
it just doesn't work at all (NM is not connecting to other servers than dedicated one)

Michalo, that was my thought too. Still frustrating no matter which service is at fault. Further, I've reached the SMS sending limit on the Nokia Messaging site trying to remove and reinstall my accounts, so I'll have to wait till tomorrow to get my account back installed. ![]()
Thanks Nokia.

I have been having such moments of excitement several times, unfortunately another moment of disappointment always seems unavoidable sooner or later.
Come on Nokia - don't let us down.

Here's the deal. Like many of you, I have faced the exact same problems with Nokia Messaging on the E75. You can send emails but cannot receive them. The phone, the connection and the synchronization seems all fine with the green ring attempting to fetch from nokia servers but resulting in zero emails.
Well, I have more or less narrowed down the cause of the problem if by chance you have not noticed it is none other then - NOKIA MESSAGING!!!!
When ever you sign-up for a new account it is set up in one of many Nokia servers. Mine is "netac12.vie.hosting.nokia.com" you can find the server info on your phone. It could be that these new servers are not configured properly to work with some of our phones in particular, the E75. Other possibilities may be that the integrated Nokia Messaging software in the phone may be having some problems in communicating with the nokia server. Which ever way you look it just comes down to software problems.
As of now, I don't believe Nokia has a solution but am sure they are aware of the situation. As much as Nokia may not acknowledge certain problems with its products or services but trust me they are aware... or maybe just giving a "blind eye" so to speak for the time being..
One may ask how sure I am if it is not the hardware of the phone or my WiFi/GPRS connection that is at fault and with that, I ask of you to try the following experiment.
Download emoze (www.emoze.com) on to your phone to be 100% sure that your phone and connection is in good working order. It is a freeware Push eMail service with certain limitations of course. You may choose to remove it completely, if you don't like it but for the benefit of the test and also that it is FREE just bare with its dry interface.
After when you have installed emoze onto your phone you will realize.. SUDDENLY.. you are able to send and receive YES, RECEIVE emails almost instantaneously! To be sure that Nokia Messaging is indeed running foul I let both emoze and Nokia Messaging run on my phone in the background and send myself an email via my PC. Emoze as clockwork, without fail, gets me the email within a minute - most of the time within 15 seconds. Whereas, Nokia Messaging, as I may add, is a very moody service. It will choose when to deliver if at all and when not to at its own BLOODY will !!!
Please excuse my language, just like many of you I am very disappointed and that to have call Nokia Care Line on several occasions and only to be told that no one else seems to be facing this problem and they make me go through the damn settings over-and-over again. If there is a fault, please rectify and not hide behind your virtual bush.
I sure hope, that Nokia will start taking ownership of its product issues and give us an update or some form of acknowledgement that it is looking into our concerns. Responsible companies will definitely demand a whole lot of customer respect. Take for example Microsoft. From time-to-time its software and products will run into venerability issues and Microsoft acknowledges these issues, customers concerns and releases a patch to fix the problem. Likewise, I hope Nokia will follow suit.
I have been a Nokia cell phone supporter for over 15 years. I am seriously, considering a swap to a BlackBerry once my contract expires with my service provider. Nokia please do your due diligence.

We are aware of a Nokia Messaging issue that's currently impacting Gmail and Google Apps email accounts. The problem is that sometimes email synchronizes to the device after a significant delay. Email synchronization will eventually resume automatically, but there's currently no workaround available at this time. We are actively investigating this issue, and we are trying to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconveniences this issue may cause.
Thank you,
Jeremiah Nielsen

am having exactly the same problem with my X6 phone. I see you were looking for a solution last August. given that this is a new phone thaat has been developed since then, it seems strange that the problem of Nokia Messaging working with Gmail has not been fixed.

Same here! N86 8MP. Have been trying for days to set up my phone to send and recieve Gmail. With the built in automatic set up feature an IMAP account are set up that I actually managed to send an email via but not receive.
To manually set up an email account is very trick and I had to use the guide to make a fake email that the phone did not recognize @blabla.bla... after this I could set up as a POP/SMTP.
However it did still not work! and the nokia server mentioned above still are in there for some reason.
I really have the feeling that the phone was set up to be smart but the support in the other end did not live up to it. But since it's so smart the possibility to make it manual was removed.
=> Catch 22 for the users!

Nokia: I'm sorry!
I had the synchronize email in off mode and now it works. I guess this is something I set since I didn't want the phone to start download by itself.
If send/receive "9" are hit if the synchronize is off it don't send/receive it's just pretending to.
Interesting is that even when mailbox are deleted and the guide are run again the Synchronize is still set to off without any warnings. Who would want it to be off when letting the smart guide set everything up?

I tried to use gmail on my Nokia 5800 using the built in email tool. It is not push mail, as the service fee is expensive and I do not need push function with my gmail. So I set up to retrieve messages every 30 minutes. It worked, but only a few days, then it stopped. I remove and set up the gmail again, but the problem occurs again and again. It retrieved for 2-3 days and stopped retrieving. That is too bad. My Nokia Exchange is working fine, but the problem is with gmail. I am not sure of Yahoo mail or other mail users. Now I am using Emoze with its pooling function so that I do not need to connect to the internet all the time.
I believe the problem is the Nokia Email tool. Probably, it has problem with gmail settings.

Ditto with my 6700 slide. Nokia email tool seems to work yes and no. Maybe it's due to my carrier but first it would download only sent messages, then at the third time I reset up the account it downloaded the inbox as well. Now I am just having issues at sending emails, it seems to get stuck in the meanwhile :-/
EDIT: tried sending an email, the message manager just gets stuck and the email isn't sent at the end.

I used to face the same problem, and had hence resorted to use Gmail Imap without Nokia Messaging.
But Today while going through my settings, I tried disabling "Advanced Imap Controls" under Labs features, and then tried configuring my phone with Nokia Messaging. Works like a charm now ![]()
