I have a new N97, and I was wondering,is there any way to set it up so I automatically get e-mails and/or facebook notifications delivered, without having to keep opening the mailbox/application and clicking connect??
I used to have a blackberry strom, which certinly had it's faults, but at least e-mails ad facebook notifications were delivered direct the phone instantly.
Thanks

Sorry this is not an answer - just another problem!!!
But if anyone can answer this, can you also help me do the same thing with my brand new E75 ?
It is really frustrating to keep being asked how I want to connect, "LAN", "Internet" etc etc
The answer for me is I want it to always connect via the internet and to check for mails every 15 mins or so.
Can I configure this to happen automatically on my E75?
Please help!!!!

Obviously, the email client has to connect to the server to receive emails. They don't just materialise by magic. The question is, can the email client be set to go to the server every so often to check to see if you have received any more mail, without you having to do it manually every time? The answer is yes.
Put the email widget on your home screen.
Open the email account.

I don't know about your phone, but, if it was the N97, the reason you would be asked which connection you want would depend on 2 things.
1 - The email settings specify that the connection to use is "default"
2 - The "default" connection (as set in the "Web" browser application) is set to "Ask when needed".
The solution is to leave your "default" connection as it is, and set your email connection to whatever your "packet data" connection is called.
