Re: post here if it's not free for your phone

Nope, 6220 classic not supported after wasting my time and money trying to connect to internet and update licenses there.

I will be writing a letter of complaint to Nokia, favouring some phone owners and using it as a sale gimmick for other without any small print. I wasn't aware that my GPS mapped phone (for what I thought was an amazing feature) would be pratically useless after 90 days.

I would personally get everyone to email NOKIA with a letter of complaint in this subject, this will encourage NOKIA to give free maps to everyone,

Re: post here if it's not free for your phone

Hi

I have a classic 6220  and have called Nokia care about the free maps navigation and was told they would come back to me on this. But so far no contact (I will post here if I have any luck). Why can’t they just give everyone a free license code? I have had a Nokia phone for over 20 years. I do not think for much longer unless this gets sorted.  Please Nokia look after your loyal customers or you will lose them. Please remember a loyal customer is for life and not just Christmas.

I have a 6220 classic also.  I'm hopeful that Nokia will make the free navigation available.  I might need to use it perhaps half a dozen times a year.  Its certainly not worth my while buying it for such little usage.  But it would be a nice to have.

Re: post here if it's not free for your phone

Incidentally, I've been able to upgrade Maps on my 6220 to v3.01 and have been able to load all the latest maps via Map Loader ... its working 100% fine ... so like many others (it seeems) all that is really needed now is just a licence code that we can download to make the Navigation work.  :smileyhappy:

Nokia 6210 NAVIGATOR!!!!!!!!!!  :@

have a look here, managed to get nokia to answer...

/discussions/board/message?board.id=navigation&message.id=16416&jump=true

Basically, At this point the forums staff do not know if support will be added as the only information they have is what is available to us.

For the 6210, N95, N85, etc... , owners - looks like you either wait it out in the (presumably erroneous) hope that Nokia will support your phone eventually.

They can't say anything more.

Re: post here if it's not free for your phone

I understand your frustrations, but you can also see the 3.03 relaease as beta release for only few selected versions of symbian. And I don't understand that everybody complaint about Nokia, for making something good for the future. Besides, you have not been promised free navigation on your phones, or am I wrong?

Re: post here if it's not free for your phone

N82 for me, and my wife's N79 which I bought just a few days ago for her birthday (and I missed the announcement).

I hear though there is a way to get navigation on all phones... though let's just say, the method involved will void your warranty. However, desperate times call for desperate measures - and the N82 is already out of warranty.

In any case, these two are going to be my last Nokia phones - or any form of Nokia digital equipment for that matter for long time to come. I was planning to buy a new touchscreen phone for myself - and never thought I would say this - but now it's most certainly not gonna be Nokia. I will probably go for an Android based phone or a laptop instead.

Re: post here if it's not free for your phone

I am so happy to hear the announcement but it is not an honest announcement. I wasted my time to updated to OVi map on my N-79 & only to be told that ` you licence has expired. Buy new licence to continue using navigation'.

Did I correctly hear that the OVi map is now free???????????

Re: post here if it's not free for your phone

Any series 40 phone.

Since nokia apparantly thinks Series 40 users are too stupid

Are S40 devices compatible with Ovi Maps 3.03?

Nokia will continue with its paid license model for all existing S40 devices for the time being. The reason for this is that developing on different platforms takes different times. S60, the platform where Nokia is more agile, can try out new services with the Explore category devices. When developing for the Series 40 platform we have to take extreme focus on ease of use as Series 40 is the mass market platform. We are continuously developing the experiences across multiple platforms and are now taking the first steps on Series 40 side by introducing the first Series 40 devices with built-in GPS. We do not offer refunds for these users.

Now, never mind that there is already an ovi maps on my 3720. But hey, what do you expect from a company that writes software which such a lousy interface as that music store client and a firmware upgrade tool that does not even work under windows 7!

[ Edited ]

I have the exact same problem.

I have updated Maps application and all the maps (even the speach)

I can plan a trip, but afte aprox 20 seconds, it tells me that my licence has expired.

I really hope they meant it when they wrote "Free speach navigation"

Nokia maps NOT FREE for e75 and much much more models.

If you start to shout that Nokia maps is free for EVERYONE, than why is it just for a few phone models ????

Seems that your marketing is just as lame as your website.

Nokia maps for free .... hahahahaha what a JOKE !

Look behind you Nokia, Android is coming!

Re: post here if it's not free for your phone

Yep, this whole thing is generating more frustration and bad publicity for owner of "old" devices (like my 5-months old E75...).  Why don't they simply give free "1 year" licenses for people in this case ?  Probably a simple thing to do their license-server :-)

Or release stripped down versions of ovi maps 3.03 (without the stuff like lonely planet, michelin, etc...) : the maps & navigation would be just fine as it is now.

regards, Olivier

Hmm, that free for everyone thing would be absolutely awesome basis for a lawsuit in Australia.
