If you use Maps 3.0 in USA and you're driving on a road for which speed limit info is available, there will be a problem, provided you are using metric units.
Speed limit seems to be set as a digit, that's not related to a measurement unit.
As a result, if speed limit is 65 I will get warning if I drive more than 65 km/h, even though the actual limit is 65 mp/h.
I have no wish to change my format to imperial units, but as such speed limits, while driving in the USA are useless...

My point is, that I do not want to make any change. ![]()
If the mapping/navigation works for me in France, I want to be able to drive over to UK and keep on going without having to make modifications to system settings (as an example). ![]()
The solution would be fairly simple, in my opinion: Nokia would have to make sure that the info (like the speed limit) is an actual value of speed and not just a number. With that you could have either imperial units or metric and you would be fine.

I know it's holiday/vacation time, but is there any information or help forthcoming about this?
Happy holidays to everyone,

This is a known bug in Maps 3.0. There is no solution. If the Maps team decides they want to fix it, they will. Don't hold your breath.

That's as good an answer as any.
Thanks Ravi.

Ravi,
Is there a place to find a list of known bugs in Maps 3.0? I'm particularly crippled by this issue, and would like to know if it's a known issue. I've checked the Maps web site, and clicked on the feeback links, but it seems they want to know only about problems with routes, not the application itself! Ridiculous.

Sorry, you kinda just gotta search around the forums to find Maps 3.0 bugs. There's no comprehensive list that I know of. The main issues people have are that searching just plain sucks, the POI database is just plain shi**y, routing problems, traffic info is a complete ripoff, and of course the usual "Nokia customer service employs idiots" complaint. But that last one is just part of Nokia's slogan now.
You could always try using the Maps 3.03 beta version from Nokia Beta Labs. It has some nice additions over the current release version, but of course also has a ton of bugs which you can find at the Nokia Maps beta forum. Plus the beta version doesn't allow searching from contacts at all, which makes your particular problem even worse. Don't you love that you chose Nokia?
I'm sure that like me, you'll never make that mistake again!

Ravi,
While I am disappointed with the lack of a few features in the 5800 (VOIP support in particular) & slow firmware updates in the US, I'm not down on Nokia in general. Anyway, I don't want to hijack this thread so let's just leave it at that. I'll check out the beta for Maps 3.03 and make sure to post this bug over there. Thanks.
